If Suarez were Brazilian instead of Uruguayan there would be a Fred for this!

 

The FA released a statement denying any hypocrisy or embarassment over appealing Rooney's ban saying since UEFA allows an appeal they will just do it without any need to consider what message it sends.

So why should the embarrassing label be applied to Uruguay for doing the same.

 

Please try and keep on topic people, the thread is about mass hysteria and how people conform to reaction through media sources and any changes of behaviour in our game that it has brought about on and off the field.

 

Have to agree about the weight of ban falling on you guys, however I feel 4 month total was fair and possibly longer from International was due too.

FIFA have in a way passed the buck (no pun intended re tooth) to you and the sponsors.

You mentioned Suarez in the topic, you mention him three times by name in your post and countless other times by use of 'him', 'his' or 'Uruguayan Player' so what did you really expect to hear in response beyond a continuation of the Suarez biting discussion? Your main point seemed to basically be that the media escalates issues which were previously seen as trivial, normal or simply unreported on such a wide ranging basis - which we are all pretty much aware of - and could have been made in the other thread.

Not sure why this deserves its own thread when many other Suarez titled topics have been merged.

As for society in general, most are brainless regurgitators, media has made them that way, perfectly conditioned to absorb unchallenged views and information and repeat ad nausea, even thinking they believe it themselves but yet never question it. When engaging in this media frenzy it's easy to not engage the brain and follow the herd. I find the enjoyment they all get from it completely odd. Sheudenfraud all over the place.

Sheeple is often used to describe what people in general have become. Anyone who dares question the mainstream view is either a nut or a conspiracy nut. You don't have to believe alternate views, you only have to question commonly held ones to be labeled.

It is insane, I mean really, INSANE, that throat grabs, kicks elbows and so on are more acceptable and don't carry cumulative penalties like what Suarez has received twice, last year and this today. Kind of the same bullshit with Suarez diving.. the reaction, and then bale does the same thing more often, not a peep.

Ah sure, I am just defending Suarez now, I better quit it, that is not the view of the mass of drones out there.
