That is what the Guardian were saying three days ago, and that there were nothing in FIFA's rules and precedents to cover an 'all football activity' ban for an on-field incident, so that will undoubtedly be Uruguay's angle of attack re the appeal and, possibly the CAS. Liverpool though have got to steer clear of that malarkey, especially if they intend to dock wages. They can't do that, and then try and defend the player on the basis that he's been punished too severely.

Let the Uruguayan FA do our dirty work, and suffer the possible consequences, but let's be clear - even if he gets some sort of suspended sentence (say double the length, or even longer), wouldn't that be worse? He was good last season, but we'd be ****ting ourselves that as soon as he was let out of our sight he'd do something nuts again. This will go on forever.

 

EA have also banned his accounts from FIFA games.

 

He had a shrink with our club last season and had his best season with us. This is Uruguay's problem hence the hard done by feeling for Liverpool.

 

Can you not see the contradiction in what you've very rightly said? They've re-written the rule book on the hoof. I'm not for one moment saying he doesn't deserve that (he does, morally, no argument) , but if I was representing him in a workplace tribunal (there you go Tobes, I'm ever the plazzy QC! (still think I'm better than McCormick though)), that's as sure as **** the angle I'd be going at.

Really don't think Liverpool should get involved in this stuff though if the Uruguay FA want to do it.

 

This is Suarez`s problem and it is him who has recieved the punishment, not his club or his country, they can continue to play

 

Fifa have simply set a precedent with this. They had nothing to compare it too and have based it on the 8, 8 and 10 game bans for other offences hes committed.

 

Fifa have not punished liverpool. They have punishes suarez.

Any issue liverpool have should be aimed at those responsible. That would be suarez.

 

I wish I could just read the comments from people who's opinions I'm actually interested in instead of having to wade through all the gleeful troll posts.
