Actually the ban is not that drastic. Expected worse given FIFA's public image right now, I expected them to pander to the masses to a more severe degree

His offence was whilst playing for Uraguay so his international career should suffer

Yeah the reason a drug ban is total is because obviously you are under the influence in club and international

The domestic ban is just pandering due to their diabolical pubic image in this case. Being seen to do the right thing is more important than doing the right thing, same with the FA, their rep is diabolical too and they also behave this way

exactly, and that it seems means more to him than playing for any one club domestically.

For what he did, and considering it's his third biting offence, he deserves a ban from all football. I don't see how you can't see that.

You are having a pop, with fiction? <laugh>

Are we supposed to be offended by the dippers comment, as if we actually eat from bins.

For the record, Manchester has the highest number of kids in poverty out of Manchester and Liverpool, fancy that, not great news obviously but it puts your tripe into perspective, where are you from, maybe poverty is even worse there

It's way more than I expected them to dish out tbh mate.

Given the lack of a previous precedent, I thought an International only ban was a cert.

How can you Liverpool fans defend that twat who seems to be on a one-man mission to destroy the club's reputation? If I was a Liverpool fan, I would be livid and not even think of defending him. I'd be calling him for him to be sold as soon as possible. Regardless of how good he may be, not one player is bigger than the club and Liverpool were around before Suarez and they'll be around after him. I personally expect a certain level of behaviour for any player representing my club, even if they're playing in an international match. So if a player acts like a twat, I won't defend him just because of the team he players for.

FFS you need to get rid of him, he's toxic.

do agree. but the 9match international may be in effect a 12-24 month ban as its only competitive.

  15. Fair enough, your entitled to your opinion. Question though. You say he deserves a bigger punishment because he is a repeat offender and he did it on a world stage. Lets swap Suarez and biting for Player X and punching. Does the same apply?

What I am getting at is yes, Suarez has a reputation and yes, biting is disgusting, but look beyond the player and the shockingness of the act and what have you got? Its an aggressive reaction towards another player. Rule 48 I believe?

Would a player punching get a worldwide ban? Would it effect their club AND country? simply put, no it wouldn't and never has it done before.

You're not supposed to be offended, considering you're not from Liverpool.

This is sanctions against the player, not the club or the country. The fact they can't select him is just the consequence, and a justifiable one, whether you support Liverpool or not.

Just banning him from Internationals would have been a bit odd. The guy has sinned in league and country colours, they're protecting other players as well as making him think about his actions.

I feel cheated as a neutral, because he's a great player to watch, but it's hardly fair for a professional footballer to be on a field wondering whether they're going to be f***ing bitten because the opposition has a lunatic. They should only be worried about how he's going to terrify them with his skill. 4 months out, in the spotlight, should give him plenty of focus on never repeating this.

If Joey Barton went to jail again, will QPR fans be like "it's unfair he's not allowed out for the weekend games because he wasn't wearing a QPR shirt when he assaulted someone"? Doubt it. Sanctions are sanctions and should be applied across the board in instances like this.

As much as I dont think Liverpool should be punished, I can also see this point too.
This is his 3rd offence!! And it was committed on the World Stage in the biggest sports tournament on the planet.
I was convinced he wouldnt get a domestic ban, and am surprised that he has, but thinking about it, it was going to happen that way due to his repeat offences.
If this was the first time he had bitten someone, it would have been a 3 match intl ban and a ten grand fine for unsporting behaviour.

But Liverpool need to sue him, otherwise they are just being played for mugs.....wish I could go around biting colleagues get given 4 months off work, fully paid! <ok>
    Best job in the world.
