I felt Vettel was a dead cert for pole after his dominance in practice since yesterday so Lewis getting pole was a surprise. He and McLaren played it well today. Getting in the quick banker lap at the start of quali three which was good enough for pole. Maldonado getting second ahead of Vettel was an even bigger surprise. Where did that come from?! It's going to be a crucial for Seb at the lights tomorrow afternoon. If Hamilton gets away cleanly then Seb will have to clear Maldonado fairly quickly.
Surely you know this one, Forza? Ferrari always play the team game. By having Massa on the harder tyre, the plan is to gain track position on all SuperSofters, and then back up the front runners (except for Alonso). I think the point was that it was getting cooler, and therefore the track was not going to improve further. Hamilton got his lap in at the best possible moment. No. He couldn't match that one. Hehehe… Earlier, you were going on about dear Seb's fantastic driving skills! Now, I'm not disputing Vettel's ability, but watching the on-board camera shots of his laps, it was absolutely crystal clear that his car is planted with tremendous traction. You should take comfort from this, Silver, because – as I mentioned in my previous post – that traction is likely to give big pay-back in reducing tyre wear, especially relative to Hamilton. Button will not be happy to be that far adrift from his team mate, but it was an extraordinary lap from Hamilton. I strongly disagree, Forza. Hamilton's lap was one of the best so far this season. Quite outstanding. On Friday, I thought Vettel had the edge over Hamilton. In this morning's Practice 3, I became more convinced of it, and I believe he fully expected to be on Pole. However, he could not have been expecting to be put into orbit by that stunner from Hamilton. Yes. I very much agree with this, Bando. It will make for a fascinating race, because I believe McLaren (and particularly Hamilton) will be very hard on tyres, perhaps requiring an extra stop. A Safety Car is also on the cards, and this could throw a 'curved-ball', to disrupt even the best of strategies. That lap was more than a bit special, Bright; it was a real stonker!
Singapore GP: Mark Webber reprimanded for Q3 incident http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/102767
Reports coming out the reason why Seb didn't get pole was because the tyres were never in their operating window for him and RBR in general just ****ed up. Seems they still cant crack those Pirelli's as well as McLaren and the main reason why Lewis got pole.
I agree that it seems Red Bull were caught out. However, that does not detract from Hamilton's astonishing lap; a lap which I believe blew Vettel's socks clean off – even before he tried to match it.
"Seems they still cant crack those Pirelli's as well as McLaren and the main reason why Lewis got pole." How is that not a compliment? Lewis works for McLaren last time I checked. I'm just going by what Seb actually said himself: "It's hard to say what happened," explained the German. "I was happy until the end of Q2, but then in Q3 we weren't able to go with the track and improve. "In Q3 I couldn’t feel the grip so well and convert it to the lap time."
Looks like you were blaming Red Bull only for Seb not being on pole and crediting McLaren only with the reason why Lewis got pole.
Don't be silly, Max... Everybody knows that Hamilton can only get pole in the fastest car and/or when every other driver on the grid muffs up. Don't you know anything?
We just messing with ya I am worried that you are going to Manny level of highs and lows though. Is not good for you!
I've had to hire Max and Cosicave with how to go about my conversations with these difficult situations, but they just both keep saying "Go to the naughty corner, you bad bad boy! until you learn your lesson." Should of just hired my own mother!
Did you watch the on board of Lewis' lap? Lewis was early on the throttle and was as smooth as Vettel was in FP1 and FP2. I don't think there is that much of a difference between the two cars. The Mclaren looked very well balanced.
FWIW, Silver, I'll be shocked if there's not a genuine fight for the win in the race tomorrow. There are no points for pole, just prestige.
So chances of a safety car........ Around lap 15, Massa hits the wall......... Alonso leads after the pitstops on a one stopper having been held in traffic up until then..........
