Anyone noticed that Skrtel's had a complete image make over? Fancy mohican hair-do, bright green patches on his boots... Who does he think he is... Agger?! Also, Lucas
A substitution for Liverpool. Adorjan comes off and Lucas comes back to the action! Great to see him back on the pitch.
Wilson has had a few good touches taking the ball forward but he does look positionally off. Flanno looks like he always does - physical but a little wild (read, unreliable). Happy to see nearly all of our players relishing the passing style though. EDIT: That's lovely passing from Suso and Robinson butchered there.
Trying not to get really excited about Sterling but it's difficult. He gets the ball and runs at players with pace, something none of our current team can do.
Agree, that should come with experience though. Just have to remember he's 17, give him a few years and he'll still be young but a much better player.
He looks bright. One of those players that, right or wrong, when he has the ball you sit up and think 'is something about to happen here'. Like Gerrard and Suarez in that respect.
Spearo/Adam/Aquilani Solid in the first half. Suso/Sterling/Shelvey looking dangerous in the second half. Defensive first half, creative second. Not surprising we both conceded and scored in the second half. Looked more solid with Lucas back. We need industrial strength cotton wool for that boy!
From Liverpool v Toronto thread: I thought Pacheco was brilliant in that first half. Aquilani looked good too. Second half went a little a little flat but Shelvey stood out for me, Suso was impressive in parts as was Flanagan. Good to see us keeping possession so much, especially against a side that is in the middle of their season too
was a bit surprised we brought adjoran on tour really but the boy is usually more "advanced" than the role he played and it looked like he was told he'd be off anyway. very hard to get involved for 20mins. all in all i was most impressed by the job shelvey did as a playmaker role in that 4-3-3.... i was suprised and i hope to see more of this. I have to wonder whether allen is required if shelvey can step up in the next month and prove to the manager he can rely on him just like rodger knows he could rely on allen. spearing did a good defensive role first half also. toronto are mls and in season so it was a decent test of fitness and effort if nothing else.... i thought suso looked well able for it and i hope sterling did too. not sure if rodgers believes it yet.
Adam and Aqua look to be leaving and Spearing is a possibility also. We need at least 6 options in midfield.
Really impressed with the performance yesterday. Pacheco had their right-back in his pocket throughout the first half and Jordan Ibe looks like a real talent. Impressed with Brad Jones as well. I hope he can be a good back-up to Pepe this year as twitter rumours that Doni has had his contract terminated by mutual consent. Shame we only got a draw out of yesterdays game, but man can those academy lads play. Really nice to see the Rodgers way being put into place nice and early!
Chris: are the mods going to back you up and keep the pre-season match threads in this one? Can you merge them, or do you have to do this as soon as they are created? It's going to get very confusing otherwise. I'm confused already - doesn't take much! -bouncing from this and the Toronto-Liverpool lineup thread. Mods: same question, please.
