R.I.P. Sid Waddell

Sad news on the last day of the games.

 

I worried when Beijing finished whether or not this would be as good. It's been surpassed. I think with advances in technology etc. I wouldn't be surprised if every single event was shown live again in four years time. Problem being the change in time zones mean late events, at 9pm local time, will probably be past midnight here.

Beckham's wife's in Jeez I hope she just pout's and doesnt sing. That would put a downer on closing ceremony.

 

She still thinks she's it. She just doesn't realise, she never was it!

Kate Bush has been mentioned. I love her, but love Macca and he was shocking at opening ceremony, hope she doesnt go down that road and puts on a better show.

 

Not heard of Kate Bush in years, is she still recording? Made a cd just the other day with one of her numbers on it.

Times were a bit harder 104 years ago, and people had to do it the hard way. But playing on a level field against the best in the world and coming out as well as we have is a remarkable achievement.

 

Why were the 5 girls that should be disappearing in one direction invited to the closing ceremony??

 

Switched it off the second they came on.

 

I'm not feeling this closing ceremony so far.

 

We knew you'd remember what it was like then AB.

Also, travel was harder back then and less funding involved, so we would have had far more competitors than other nations on our home soil.

 

Got to say I'm not One Direction perform and they wreck a classic scene from Only Fools And Horses.

 

I don't get half the symbolism or the noise...
The acoustics and audio relay to broadcast were pretty good at the starting ceremony but this audio right now is horrendous

 

Yes Obi times and travel were both harder then. I remember them well. No jumping into luxury aircraft and being waited on hand and foot by gorgeous stewardesses. Endless days on a liner with engines chugging away and keeping you awake at night. You youngsters don't know that you're born.

 

Aye lad, we 'ad it tough. There were seventy four of us living int' shoe box int' middle o' road!
