    It was 1999, and despite Rachel Weisz's steaming hotness, there were several better films that year: The Sixth Sense, Fight Club, American Beauty, Toy Story 2, The Matrix, The Iron Giant and Austin Powers 2.

    The Phantom Menace also came out that year, but that was crap.

    It's better than Toy Story 2 and Austin Powers 2, I'l concede the Matrix though. Haven't seen the others.

    It's the best film about Egypt since the Prince of Egypt though! The second one was meh, the third one seemed a bit **** tbf.

    The mummy is getting rebooted, they are getting rid of all the cast. Wanting to make it less a comedy and more adult.

    American Beauty won all the awards, and Fight Club and The Sixth Sense were both brilliant also. The Mummy is a fun film but it's far from being a classic.

    To be fair, the first one wasn't really a comedy. It was an action film with a few comedic moments. With the second and third films, they seemed to forget this and think that the films are comedies with a few action moments. It was the same with Men in Black vs Men in Black 2 (Number 3 was good though, more like the 1st than the 2nd).

    Perhaps not a classic, but it's one of those films you can watch time and time again and not get bored. I've seen it looooads of times.
