Webber also outqualified Vettel in Australia despite not having KERS and if he had not got a bad start then he might of beaten him in the race as well. I think when the car is a bit more unstable and unbalanced then Webber and Vettel are much closer together. EDIT: And by unstable I mean without the EBD.
Well you also have to take into consideration that Seb made a mistake where I dont think Webber did, how much I'm not sure. It should be closer for the start of the season since Seb was a bit wary of the RB8 where Mark sounded more positive, Seb also has to unlearn pretty much everything he could do last year and get to grips and understand that he doesn't have as much rear downforce. I'm pretty positive Seb will start to pull away from Webber when he settles with the car around China time.
Vettel was running with a different exhaust so maybe that's why he had more problems than Webber. Red Bull are struggling: Nice to see Ferrari looking a bit better, at least in Alonso's hands: Best sector times combined Hamilton - 1.38.008 Alonso - 1.38.891 (+0.883) Massa - 1.40.203 (+2.195)
So does Vettel have 'Button fever' whereby unless the car is perfect he cannot perform properly? Webber and Hamilton can driver around a car's flaws better than the other two, but when the car is spot on, Button & Vettel are then faster?
I think thats the case allsaint, remember how unsteady Seb was around Germany and Hungary because the RB7 got some upgrades. Seb hated it and was feeling out of place, but Webber was able to close the gap in both race and quali. Seb then asked the team to break the time limit and put it back to the old spec and he was back to his "normal self" and almost won Hungary.
Both Mercedes men looking handy in Qualifying again, tyre deg is being investigated thoroughly. Time to hand Lotus their arses. Especially if it rains.
People say Sky is a subscription channel but they forget the F1 channel is free to all Sky HD customers - which I thought was a significant proportion of the consumer base in the UK. Based on that alone, 1.1m is VERY disappointing.
The real acid test for Sky will of course be the first European grand prix but at the moment it's not looking good, considering they will have spent a not insignificant amount of money on getting the coverage in the first place AND have been throwing money at the advertising and build-up budgets.
Didn't say it like it was a good thing. The point I was trying to make is that there are probably more than just 1.1 million people who own Sky HD and yet even still people have it seems not decided to take advantage of the 24-hour channel and other goodies - available to THEM at no extra cost.
I just think that's a load of tosh. Did Hamilton drive around the car's flaws in Melbourne? Or did he, like every other human driver does, have a complain about his front wing, his clutch at the beginning etc.? People repeat these odd memes as if they are true. If the facts backed up these memes then I might be inclined to believe them, but the facts say otherwise. Nonetheless these memes get repeated time and again. "Ooh Hammy can drive around a car's problems", unless, it seems, the car is not set up right.
Not in my house at 6am - she needs her beauty sleep!!! Might be an idea if she slept all day in that case No threat to Nicole S.
Is it me or can I see blistering on the inside wall of Lewis' front tyres quite early on. Was just watching a repeat of practice.
Yeah, 'sfair enough, you got me mixed up with celtictorybhoy or whatever his name was. And I was pretty unclear. Also, for Malaysia, wouldn't surprise me if Button gets pole but Hamilton wins the race, Mclaren to get that 1-2 they deserved in Australia too.
so who will burn out their tyres for a good grid position and who will play the long game for the race?
1)Button 2)Hamilton- (Either way a Mclaren driver should win this). 3)Nico/Michael- Shredded tyres for the race (will punish them if it is dry). 4)Grosjean- Fall back due to inexperience. 5)Vettel- Work his way up through the grid like Australia.
The car had no flaws. That's my entire point. The car was perfect so Button drove a fantastic race, impecable and beat Hamilton as a result. If the car is off-perfect, I think Hamilton copes better than Button. I think you missed the point I was making, but then again there are those who can't see past the end of their nose........... Eveyone seems happy to go by the notion that Button is better at tyre conservation than Hamilton, is that a 'memes' that gets repaeated time and time again, despite several times last year Button complaining about tyres? It's like Prost v Senna (though neither are as great). One is super smooth and will get the car to the end and win, the other will drive the nuts off it yet may not always get the results but may ultimately win more races if not the WDC. Both have a long way to go to emulate either, but the comparison is there.
