I think the fact that Tiote has received more votes than Rob Lee and Gary Speed shows just how young most of our members are.

I voted Beardsley but Lee would have been a close second followed by Speed. Tiote has to play at his absolute best for at least another couple of seasons before he can be mentioned in the same breath. Beardsley was a different class, I'm grateful that I was just about old enough to appreciate what he done.

Agree entirely with everything you said here. Also I think Lee isn't doing as well as he should because this isn't multiple choice. The people who voted Beardsley would regard Lee as their second choice as far as I can tell so he isn't doing as good because of that.

Defo, I can only assume there'll be another poll for the second CM then?

That would make sense. He should have done that for CB as well and included Woodgate.

Still can't believe the amount of votes for Tiote. I was torn between Dyer, Lee and Speed.

I know this is favourite not best and that people have their own opinion, but for Tiote to be in our best Premier League team is stupid. Beardsley is a definite but for me, the other two that should be competing are, as others have said, Speed and Lee. Tiote has had one good season in an average Premier League side. On the other hand, Speed and Lee were both consistently very good players, very popular players, and very important members of very good teams.

    Pedro for me... no contest

watched him when he played for us both times and if this guy was anything other than English (i.e.Brazilian/French/Spanish etc) he'd have been hailed as one of the best players in the world.technically gifted, super fast footballing brain in short a genius

Pedro, Lee and Speed were stalwarts of a great team and proved themselves as hard working hero's for us. Much as I like Tiote, he's still got a way to go to prove he's their equal.

Voted Speed - absolute hero and so, so consistent. Beardsley was the better player technically, though.

<doh> at Tiote having 14 votes

I am probably one of the younger members here, and the first team I remember and properly followed was Sir Bobby's 2001/2 team, but even then, I voted Beardo because, from a combination of old videos and Geordie folklore, you can't not vote for him. I remember Rob Lee as well, and Speed, and I'm 17, so the members on here must be seriously young, or deluded if they can pick Tiote ahead of those legends.
