This must be the quietest match thread we've had. Any visitors may well be put off by the knob talk etc;. I know almost every thread we have lurches off topic pdq but out of respect for fans of the opposing team, not to mention Chris for putting them together, perhaps we should try and keep the match threads on course?
Looking forward to this game; I actually want to see Carroll and Gerrard start together with Suarez on the bench. I remember how good Carroll was at newcastle when he was getting service from Nolan and Barton, and Gerrard can do exactly what they could do just 10 times better. Suarez isn't the best partner for Carroll yet, they haven't quite got the understanding or even similar attacking mind that say Suarez and Bellamy have. My ideal technique to approach this game would be: ------------------Reina---------------------- ---Kelly-----Coates----Agger------Enrique---- ------------------Lucas----------------------- ----Henderson----Gerrard----Downing-------- ------------Kuyt-------Carroll---------------- Gerrard can provide plenty of through balls for Kuyt and Carroll; and it works well both ways because if Carroll proves to be ineffective, he'll still keep the defenders occupied as they try and match his height, leaving Kuyt free on goal. Henderson is on very good form at the moment, and I can see him snatching another assist. Downing needs to take another step up in this game, I haven't been too impressed with his performances lately, so hopefully he can feed in some crosses on the left. Then, 60 minutes in we can introduce a completely different attack style by putting Bellamy and Suarez on for Carroll and Kuyt.
Quite glad that Long is out as I think he could have caused us a few problems (although it's obviously never good that any player gets a bad injury). We've been playing really well recently and if we carry on playing like we have done in the last 3/4 games then I'll think we'll win 0-2 or 1-3. Carroll looked a bit better against Stoke with a couple of runs and decent strikes. Still think his first touch is a bit off but he's slowly getting there. If Suarez isn't fit it would be good to see him and Bellamy play together and see if they can link up well.
West Brom don't have any fans on here so it will be quiet compared to the Stoke and Norwich games because they have fans on here. Anyway, i'm sure it will pick up nearer kick-off.
Gotta love how the interviewer near the start says "Suarez produced some more magic on Wednesday, you can't coach that, urm, maybe you could coach that.." All in all, Chris, another brilliant Match thread Come on Reds! PS: I live within 2 miles of the WBA ground so feel like a right knob sitting at home to watch the game
Yep, Arsenal look set to finish above us this season. We need to make 5th otherwise getting 6th again would be embarrassing.
Father in Law confidant of a draw and thinks Odewinge will cause us problems. Carra is past it and so is Gerrard, if Suarez is out then he thinks WBA will win as he's our only threat.
Get a grip. If anything it shows how chelsea aren't guaranteed safety. Both teams were awful in defence today. Sure arsenal were sharp up front but if Chelsea had had our disciplined defence it would have been a different story
Are you going down the same route as me with all the negativity? I found it worked a treat vs Stoke. When I was all positive handing out interesting positive facts we lost to Stoke, Spurs and drew Norwich. If it doesn't work today then I don't know how else I can help the team. WBA 2-1 Liverpool
Steve Clarke on WBA Despite an unsuccessful period at Liverpool, Hodgson is a more than capable manager according to Kenny Dalglish's right-hand man. "He did a good job at Fulham and all his previous clubs before that," said Clarke. "Nobody has to sit and say that Roy Hodgson is a good manager, you know from his experience over the years. Wherever he's been he's done a good job and he's doing the same at West Brom. "We remember last year we went down there and they beat us 2-1 after we'd taken the lead. It was really disappointing and we know to expect a difficult game. "They had a difficult start to the season and maybe didn't pick up the points they deserved to pick up in some difficult games. They found it hard to get started but in recent weeks their performances have improved, their results have improved, and we go down there to face a team with confidence. "But we have confidence and are doing well. We look forward to the challenge."
No, Father in Law is a WBA fan we're off to the pub to watch it later so my post was his opinion. Trying to drum up some debate. My father in law is the closest WBA fan to this thread.
Alright fair enough. Though I can see why he mentioned the thing about Carra, depending on his performance today I might make a thread on what everyone's opinion is of him so far this season.
Carra just needs someone like Agger with him the combination is then good. When it's Skrtel and Carra it doesn't work. FIL getting more confidant as the day goes on, starting to wind me up now. Just came on 5 live that Jimmy Saville has died.
He was rummaging around the section with all the loose grapes and such. Probably got away with something.
I was supposed to be going to a Halloween party Took the kids for a couple of hours and managed to blag the Mrs to take over so I can watch the footie
