I apologise for the Mackems thing, I was only joking. But as for the away fans thing its true, all we have had this year at Anfield, is the away side abusing our players, rather than getting behind there own side.Thats what Man U fans do ( they have more songs about Liverpool than there own team for f's sake)
Some of our fans will probably boo players like Carroll, but it's to be expected to a degree, surely? As for the rest of your players, I highly doubt they will be targeted. There's simply no reason for it. Us mags like to get behind our own players and support them. Fans of other teams can do what they like.
For me the main problem with this match is the KO time. Big decision to make. Do I try and stay awake 'till 03.45? Go to bed and set the alarm? Record it and watch it at breakfast? I suppose it will depend upon how many beers we have To supporters of both sides, have a good match and Happy New Year
I always find it hard to keep up with our match-day threads as the match is going on - they grow so fast. I won't be near a computer for the next couple days, but I'm hoping I have some positive post-win threads to come back to after the weekend.
This, expect the away contingent to offer the service of their wives to a certain someone as per usual, even the ones who don't even have wives.
I won't be Booing anyone, I'm there to get behind my own team, and if there is any booing hopefully it'll pass after the first few minutes. If previous away supporters have been guilty of booing this season, that is unfortunate, but if as you say it's counter productive against their own team, all the better for you then. I really do think you are wrong to expect it from all visitors though.
Never ever have any problems with the Toon boys before, during or after the game. Always top class banter and one of my fave sets of visitors of the year (and without doubt the away trip I enjoy most every season). Add to this the fact that we so often produce the most exciting games of a season (both sides seem to lose the tactical plot for some reason and just go hell for leather) Despite our recent run of piss poor results I can't wait for this one.
TBH I think he'll get booed by both sets of fans this evening, when he's subbed at the 60th minute after another pitiful display ...
I'm too excited to give a hoot about Carroll TBH Have the added bonus of watching the game tonight with 2 of us being Toon fans and one being an LFC fan haha, though how tht balances out when we get to the pub... I would love it if we managed to get a win tonight, what a perfect way to cap the first half of the season. A draw would be good as well though. TOON TOON BAWA! HTL
I'm sorry but I disagree with this massively. In my experience of going to Old Trafford as an away fan or more commonly watching Man Utd play at St James', their fans (Away fans in particular) seem to have a wide range of songs that I'd never heard the tune to before and all being about Matt Busby and the 'Busby babes' etc etc. I think their away fans are the best away fans around (Second being Newcastle, third being Leeds). I think Man Utd are one of the only clubs that really don't actually need to be bitter about other clubs too much (I know they have rivals such as Leeds, City and Liverpool) because they win pretty much everything and are without any shadow of a doubt the biggest football club in the country.
Sorry to be contrary but I have to disagree with this massively. Newcastle away fans are brilliant, but Man U and Leeds? Seriously? You want to put Milwall in there, too? You're entitled to your opinion obviously, but I'd be very suprised if that was the anything other than a minority view amongst fans.
Carroll will probably get the same as last time: It'll just be the general, greedy bastard song, you let your city down song, He shoots he misses he hits his ****ing mrs andy carroll, andy carroll song and the Taylor shagged your lass song. Last year at anfield was the worst abuse I've ever heard anyone get and it was much louder in the stadium than that video suggests. Sadly I'm not going today but if I was Enrique and Bellamy wouldn't get any reception from me nothing negative and nothing positive. I probably wouldn't join in with all the booing etc for aunty carol but I'd probably join in with the he shoots he misses and the Taylor shagged your lass songs.
Can't believe you're singing "only one greedy bastard" at Carroll when you have Mike Ashley running your club surely that makes at least two, right? Did Carroll really ask to leave or was he just shoved out the door for 35 million smackers? Hmmmm. Really, as your club got way over the odds for him you should be cheering him Having watched that I really really hope he single handedly rips you apart tonight.....well, I can dream.
