Well, whatever you feel about the penalty, which for once has gone in our favour, we thoroughly deserve to be at LEAST on equal terms. Totally dominant.
Yeah my bad, didn't realise quoting him would put the picture in quoted also, figured just the text. Thanks for removing it Ze! Darth, it was clearly a penalty. He dived infront of the ball like a keeper - hands raised. What did he expect to happen?
Half time 1-1 what a half was a lot of corners for a cracking goal by De Jong. The pen some say soft hmmm
He actually made the tackle, blocking the shot with his foot. In a split second, it bounced up and hit his hand - ball to hand. Having said that, you probably deserve to be ahead on the balance of play.
No just one!! 2-1 to City (2-2 agg) at full time would mean WE would have to score in ET to win, as away goals count in ET
Show me in the rulebook where it says that ball to hand is legal. Bit of forewarning mate - you won't find it an easy task.
Not a penalty in a million years, anyone who thinks otherwise clearly doesn't know the rules of the game. As for the game, we are playing well. Downing is doing what we've wanted him to do all season, go past people and get the ball in the box. Henderson is playing well too. Pretty much everyone, apart from Adam, who is yet again a ****ing liability. He gives the ball away, gives fouls away, ran over to Silva and tried to make a crap attempt at a tackle and left De Jong completely free. Urgh, hopefully we can keep it up in the second half.
No problems. As for the penalty - there's not much he could have done about it, but it's still a penalty I'm afraid. His hands prevented the ball from going goalwards, making it denial of a goalscoring chance, which in my mind makes it a penalty.
If his hands were by his side it would never have been given. His arms were well above his head and that was a risk Richards took to make the tackle and it didn't pay off
Look what the ****s have been saying on Twitter: Manchester United and former Liverpool striker Michael Owen on Twitter: "Didn't think that was a pen." Former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville on Twitter: "A deflection to your arm cannot be a penalty!" Thankfully Taylor's view: BBC Radio 5 live summariser Graham Taylor: "I'm not being unkind to those that Tweet, but when do professional footballers ever read laws of the game? Never. The hands are in action so you could argue when it went to his hands it stopped the ball going through to a Liverpool player."
After the first half, my concern for Savic has been confirmed. For the first time ever I will favour Andy Carroll to be brought off the bench...
It isn't a penalty, its not deliberate. That is what the rulebook says. Deliberate. Not 'Deflected off leg and then a split second later hits arm' which is what happened to Richards.
1.) He didn't prevent it going towards the goal with his hand, he blocked it with his leg and it went straight up in the air. 2.) There is no physical way you can slide in like that with your arms down by your side, it's called using your balance. No penalty I'm afraid.
Surprised at Downing tbf, he should play like this every game. Liked his trickery as well, taking on two or three of the defenders at once. Keep it up Stewie
Richards goes into block like a keeper with two arms outstretched towards where he thinks the ball is going; but because unbeknown to him when he positions himself like that, the ball hits his foot first, it's not a pen? It was hand to ball: Richards is just that rubbish at cheating his foot got in the way lol.....
Need a good second half...come on boys dont rest on your laurels...... Penalty or not...I dont care, we have stonewalls turned down this year, so fair enough we get awarded a contentious one......Come on you reds
