I'll probably make a seperate post on the Cardiff board, but your team and your supporters were magnificent yesterday. Clearly, I'm delighted that we won, but I have a huge ammount of sympathy for you all and your team. It's a horrible way to lose. Thanks to all of you that went to the game for not being sheep (no pun intended) and booing Suarez. Respect where it's due Good luck with the promotion push and maybe we'll meet again in the PL next season. Cheers lads
Cardiffs first goal ripped your defence appart and was cooly placed into ther back of your net ,your first goal was a mistake by our centre half and the clearence went to you ,not a training ground move . Cardiff should have scored the winner but Millers shot went just over the bar and the equaliser was after we peppered your box with crosses and shots so dont make out you gave it away? Great game tho
Stop simplifying things johnny We hit the bar in the first few minutes and also hit the post,we had 19 shots on target to your 7,we had more corners and more posession. Great game tho.
A lot of trip on here about the game. Ain't it the magic of the english cups no? How many 2nd tier teams make it to the final of the spanish cup? Fantastic advertisement for Cardiff and the game overall, that anyone can have a chance. Birmingham last year in the final nicked it, Cardiff almost did this year yet bitters try to devalue the event one way or another. If you wanted Liverpool to win = tension and excitement If you wanted Cardiff to Win = same again If you havted Liverpool and just wanted em to lose, you got 120mins of football and a penalty shootout = same again. Fk off bitters Cardiff, I truely hope your lot make it to the prem, a credit to football
the truth is that liverpools class showed, they had numerous chances but through the heroics of heaton the score was kept down. miller had a chance late on but we had fewer chances than liverpool, someone said millers chance was harder than it looked but it was almost gilt edged, he should have at least hit the target. i will forever rue that gerrard penalty. why was he taking a crucial penalty when he had probably never taken one in his life. fair play to the guy for having the guts to step up (unlike people like suarez who bottled it) but malky should have brought conway on late on as he could have stuck one away, either that or insisted that a more technical player take it, it was a strange decision to bring on blake when there was a chance to bring on a penalty taker..
If aplayer has doubts I dont want him talking one. Suarez may feel he is not a great pen taker, again if he thinks that I dont want him taking one so a bit harsh, we dont know why he didnt, besides arent they picked before the game starts usually
Suarez has missed two out of two penalties this season, so its probably sensible that he didn't take a penalty in the CC final. He is just in bad form at the moment with penalties so no point risking it.
talk of the devil, suarez was poor. i was expecting him to run rings around turner and hudson given that he is far more agile than them, but it didnt happen. i have no doubt he opted out of taking one, a strikers job is to put the ball in the back of the net, his absence in the shoot out was conspicuous.
Why is he being smeared so much over this? He's probably our 6th best taker, as he's proven the last couple of times, so it wasn't a surprise when he didn't step up. P.S - being a striker doesn't mean you MUST take a penalty, or that they should be your speciality. Torres never took one for us in all his time here, aside from a pre-season tourny against Portsmouth.
And Gestede. Both of their strikers missed their pens. Tbh, I'd rather someone 'bottle it' if it means someone taking their place and scoring. Would any of us (LFC fans) feel better if Suarez had taken the 5th and missed? No.
i wouldnt go there son, miller left nothing on the pitch, he missed a chance but his build up play was excellent and played the ball through for mason, he was a menace to the defence. carroll on the other hand, was once again poor, as was suarez. even if he isnt playing well he still offers alot to the cause. and breaking news..adams penalty has just landed!
score or miss, I've got the utmost respect for anyone with the balls to step up and take one in a shoot out... especially in a Cup Final
