Thank God that last photo had Doni in it. I thought for a second we'd have Jones between the sticks with him being in all the others!
Well I say, who ever looks better in training plays. The fact that Doni has been on the bench all season suggests he is higher in the food chain. But Brad Jones had a long break around the time of his sons illness and passing.
Jones has played plenty of reserve football too. That's the trouble with being second choice GK - you're not good enough for the first team, but too good for the reserves. So you end up just sitting on your arse all season.
Heres a question. Should Carroll be in the team? Carroll was actually fairly good at times last week. But he lost his temper and lost interest and I think he embarrassed us a little.
I read an article somewhere a few days ago which said that Villa have conceded 20 goals from set pieces this season. That's pretty poor. If we could use our set pieces well, Carroll could have some joy against a Villa defence which clearly struggle to defend set pieces.
Villa fans are probably thinking they may get some decent set piece training for once. But yeah, could be a good chance for Carroll. Is Agbonlahor still injured? With Bent out and Delfonso on loan we could face Heskey as a loan striker.
Remember a couple of seasons ago, when before every match we would get training pics like this (Normally a day or two before the game) and whoever had the bibs on always started the game. So we knew the team sheet the day before. I hope this still isn't the case, because if it is that means Carragher and Carroll are playing and Maxi and Sterling/Kuyt aren't.
Seriously no Kuyt or Maxi? Why did we go from what won us games last season, this season even? Ah well, hopefully Villa are in such a slump as us that Downing and Carroll might actually put some stats up.
Yeah i noticed that, and Carroll. But still, i hope Coates, Maxi and Kuyt play, and Carra, Carroll and Downing don't.
I agree on the who to play but I think Downing will play, Villa, teammates with Petrov, he will want to put a performance in and will let Kenny know. Still can't get over if we still had Aqua and meireles how much better our midfield would be at the moment and in general the whole season!
