Mercedes claim they weren't chasing times in FP1 and FP2, doing race work on heavy fuel loads.. (yes, clutching straws..), think they'll be best of the rest, the Lotus, RB and Ferrari look out of reach right now..
Considering the restrictions placed on DRS in practice and qualifying, it's pretty interesting that Raikkonen and Vettel are pretty much on last year's qualifying pace already, and will get quicker.
Wouldn't quite go that far, but clearly a lot more comfortable in this years car and showing Alonso the way so far in practice. Race is where it counts. If he can beat Alonso fair and square it will be a massive boost for him, even more than he must be getting now as he has definitely closed the gap between the two.
Of course Chris, I meant compared to 2012. Also has Nick Fry actually stepped down? Toto is going all out at Mercedes. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/21882039 Hamilton not fighting for the title, ruled out.
and outpaced by Rosberg in both FP's. early days, but looks like both are going to be settling for points unless what they say about heavy fuel is true. haven't seen either session so can't comment too much on it.
Just looking at FP1 & 2 times, very little fluctuation between the drivers times over the two sessions. Usually see a bit of variation but everyone seems to be about the same times away from the fastest guy in both sessions. Has everyone done identical programs!?
First GP2 qualifying of the year: the top 3 covered by 0.008 seconds! Should be an exciting season there.
