Yar, easily the best overtake of the day, Senna is getting better and better, I hope he continues to improve.

Autosport driver rankings for the Hungarian Grand Prix

    10: Charles Pic!!!!

    9: Hamilton
    9: Alonso
    9: Raikkonen

    8: Kovalainen
    8: Senna
    8: Grosjean

    7: Vettel
    7: Massa
    7: Rosberg
    7: Hulkenburg
    7: De La Rosa

    6: Karthikeyan
    6: Button
    6: Petrov
    6: Maldonado
    6: Vergne
    6: Riciardo
    6: Di Resta

    5: Webber
    5: Kobayashi
    5: Perez

    4: Glock

    1: Schumacher

    Charles Pic:

Rounded out an impressive rookie half-season by outqualifying, and outracing, Glock for the second race in succession. Considering how strong the German traditionally is at this type of track, that's impressive. Was able to turn in some genuinely midfield laptimes at times during a seriously impressive race performance that turned a few heads.

    Schumacher 1 <laugh>

Has anyone ever got a 1 before?

Don't think Alonso deserved a 9. I wouldn't have put his overall performance on a par with Hamilton/Kimi.

    Two points.

    • Why does Karthikeyan keep getting a six? The guy sucks.
    • On the Sauber drivers, not only did the car lack pace but the Sauber strategists ruined their races. They don't deserve a 5.

Vergne got a 0 in one of the races

    Fair enough

Will have to check that Shcuery didn't get -1 as don't remember Vergne ever being that bad.

Karthekeyan comes last and picks up a 6 and is on par with Button who on his own got into 3rd and was pushing for 2nd. See Mclaren!! you ballsed up so bad you made yourselves look like an HRT <doh>

As for Pic... Did you guys not see the action at the back. Pic was mugging everone...

No doubt about it: that was Pic's best ever race. Schumacher found him very difficult to pass, and after he had, he couldn't shake him off!

It was a very neat move but it should be borne in mind that Perez was on poor tyres, very soon to pit; which is why I didn't rate it as the best of the race.

I chose Pic for my joint-best rookie, along with Grosjean, of course. I hope he survives his season at Marussia.

Not sure about Alonso's 9 either though. I'd have put him between Grosjean and Vettel, like a 7.5.

Button should of got 7 or 8 not 6, it was not his fault Mclaren screwed his strategy up and Button did everything else right - he had good pace and he overtook Vettel at the start.

I think they took his 0.6 defecit to Hamilton in qually into consideration for his 6, but yeah overall he was good.

And Karthikeyan does suck, he was not on par with Button.

    Schumacher:

Crashed on Friday, qualified badly, struggled to match Rosberg's pace, parked in the wrong place on the grid, switched his engine off when he shouldn't have, sped in the pitlane, held up some frontrunners while being lapped and retired to ensure a new gearbox for the next race after climbing no higher than 18th. His worst F1 weekend ever?

    More Autosport stats

Hamilton matches Sennas tally of Hungary victories (also with McLaren) with only Schumacher beating them on 4.

He also matches his pole tally here 2007,8,12

raikkones finished 2nd here 4 times and 3 of them he has been following Hamilton for the win, 2007,9,12

Vettels on his longest win drought since Monza 2008

Maldonado has now gone 10 races starting in the top 10 and not scoring.

If that race had been the same but with say both Red-Bulls and Alonso as the top 3 instead I admit I would have found it a little boring.

Both Lotuses and Hamilton is a different story though.

It improved the drama with the WDC and the WCC, but the whole race (whoever was leading) was just plain crap and it was bringing back the days of old of bulletproof tyres and lack of overtaking!

Btw do my survey as I need something to do to keep me busy for this week at least!

Yeah, that was the case for me too but also, because I was watching a Portuguese feed, I was listening to the 5 live team who were excellent and entertaining. I really prefer them over both the Sky and BBC pairs.

Going back to the rankings, what did Hamilton do to not deserve a 10?? Topped 2/3 practice sessions, was comfortably fastest in all three qualifying sessions, and led nearly every lap of the race, despite having to preserve his tyres in the final stint.

Nothing outstanding, he didn't have to overtake anyone accept backmarkers who moved out of the way clearly...(unless the reason is he was hypocritically whinging about them on the radio)..
Car was comfortable, tyres were good. Nothing special.

I'd consider his performance among the most dominant I've seen. Sure, Raikkonen and Grosjean got close but I feel Hamilton was always in control. Certainly better than Alonso's performance. Apart from locking up into the first corner I can't remember a major mistake.

Also I'm not a major Hamilton fan.
