Little off topic but Scarbs is running a little competition: ‘Spot the Brake Duct’ The prize is a RB6 Haynes manual.
Problems with brake bias for Schumacher, Alonso suffering from understeer, and Kovalainen just goes off.
Ted Kravitz: "One amusing bit of trivia on the new Team Lotus driver is that strictly speaking, he is not allowed in the pit lane as he only has a 'paddock only' pass." Right, get me the number for security...
Picture one looks like Ferrari. I would enter the competition but I stand no chance of winning with all the other entrants: Martin Whitmarsh, Tim Goss, Paddy Lowe....
Maybe Ferrari are back in the mix here, seem situation as last year it seems. Mclaren seem cut short a little this weekend at first glimpse, Redbull have a fight on their hands with the Italian team (Alonso in particular). Mercedes are looking positive although their car looks stationary in terms of progress.
please log in to view this image Ferrari are P1 but crucially fastest in all three sectors, which suggests they are equal or slightly behind/ahead of Red Bull. In earlier Practice sessions this year even when Ferrari were quickest there were big differences between them and Red Bull in the high downforce sectors compared to normal ones. At Nurburgring, Sector 2 is the main downforce sector and the only big thing to point out there is McLaren aren't quick through there. Early days, but it's looking like a repeat of Silverstone: Red Bull vs Ferrari, with McLaren far back in the distance. Another thing I noticed - as Vettel was being wheeled back into his garage he looked a bit pissed off. Maybe it was the way he took off his gloves, or maybe I was seeing what my mind wanted me to see.
Looks like it is going to be close between Red Bull and Alonso, I predicted Vettel to get pole mainly down to home advantage but although it is early Alonso is looking very fast. I think it will be out of Webber, Vettel and Alonso for pole, but Alonso definitely for the win. Mclaren seem to be better than they were in Silverstone but still lagging behind Ferrari and Red Bull.
It only shows to the tenth of a second, I assume that Rosberg's sectors were quicker but just by hundredths of a second.
Sector 1 Alonso 30.433 Webber 30.608 (+0.175) Sector 2 Alonso 38.024 Webber 38.140 (+0.116) Sector 3 Alonso 23.325 Webber 23.469 (+0.144) http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2011/862/6875/best_sector_times.html Nurburgring
Alonso is on a roll, let's see if he can carry this onto FP2 then. Yes Mifune that solves it, nice one
That ****ing ANON guy is hogging all the texts on the Live updates on the bbc website again grrrrrrrr.....
Sam Michael has just said that in 2014 teams will have the same gear ratios for every race so Monaco and Monza will have the same ratios!?
