It's a shame this thread has turned into a Hamilton vs Button argument. To change that, can anyone tell me whether the bump into the new turn one has been fixed or will it still be there?
It'll be interesting to see how everyone deals with it, especially with the new regs on the exhaust blown diffusers coming into play.
Silverstone in summary: To the Village Farm, in Wellington and Woodcote, drive avoiding Brooklands then Hangar right by Vale missing Luffield to where we Stowe Club Maggotts in the Chapel of the Abbey.
Fixed? Fixed would be leaving it alone. Bumpy tracks are better than billiard-table-flat ones. Interlagos and Abu Dhabi are proof of this.
Yeah, it's down to the driver to drive the track and those who can manage the bumps better come off best.
I have the full weekend ticket but I'm only going for the Saturday and Sunday events. I'm looking to get into the General Admission area down at Stowe, Vale and Club which I understand are the final corners before the new pit area/straight. I went in 2008 for the F1 Grand Prix but the track was the old one then and where we were last time is now all grandstands on the exit of club corner. Stowe through Vale and onto club corner is, in my opinion, the best part of the track and will probably have to get up early to get into what will probably be the most exclusive GA area. Just wondering who else is travelling down and where you are sitting or plan to get to in the GA areas and what's your favourite part of the track?
Not going this year. Usually go for Vale on the Sunday, you can see quite a few corners and there's usually a bit of overtaking action. I'd go for Abbey on the Friday because a lot of drivers seemed to struggle with it last year in free practice. Maggots, Beckets, Chapel on the Saturday just to see them taking three of the most demanding corners on the calendar at full flight. Hope you have a good weekend.
Haha! Well, as a McLaren fan, I have to say that at the moment, bumps are not what I want to see at a track such is the stiffness of their suspension!
Here's that McLaren/Santander promotional CGI vid: I think it's supposed to be Tronesque.
Agreed. I remember on Lewis's P4 Lap into that corner he got the line slightly wrong hit the bump and had a massive oversteer moment. He kept it together but I pretty sure that cost him at least 1 tenth.
Not really a lover of Mags/Becks/Chap. Although it's good to see a car sticking to the road at that speed through quite some dramatic curves it doesn't make for excitement whilst being there in person. Club corner gives the same experience of sort and Vale and Stowe are in view and always exciting. Luffield/Brooklands looks good, plenty of time to see the cars. I haven't experienced the new layout and may change my mind but I've got my heart set on getting right on Vale so I can see Stowe to the right and Club to the left, for me it's an all in one package location!
I'm gonna have to do the obvious vote, SV Can't see past him at the moment - not that theres anything to see past him anyway.
