ooops - SORRY - I didn't intend to confuse things. I do think the MODS should have equal chance to go for their numbers same as the rest of us. So either find a way of them picking their own (without knowing the drivers of course!) or have us pick them. It just doesn't feel right for them to get whatever is left over - its random, right?
Yes they should get the same chance to join in the fun and certainly if I thought they were bothered then I wouldn't have mentioned it but it's more important to give forum members the main choice in the optimistic hope that it'll attract new ones or keep drifters coming back. Of course, this opinion may have been negated by the new rules.
I completely agree. I do not want to play with the advantage of loaded dice. Although the motivation is admirable and honourable, in my opinion, it is also unnecessary (particularly if we have double the numbers).
Well Ninja's reinstated us all so I suppose we can just leave it at that. What about giving full points to latecomers? I suppose we'd have to apply half points if people are posting elsewhere but deliberately holding back to pick from the 'b' list for whatever reason, but I can't imagine why anyone would so... full points?
but waiting for the B list only gives you an initial 1 in 24 chance anyway !! I think creating all these ideas to cater for the few(?) who might stumble along after the main fans (up to 24 of us) have picked is not worthwhile. If demand is there have 30 numbers - where 6 draw a blank - tough !!
Oh you're heartless. What we (or I, at least) don't want is for regulars not to get to join in because a newcomer - who I also want to accommodate - has taken the last number. I don't think anyone wants to draw a blank.
I see no point in restricting it to 30 if the 'b' numbers score fewer points. The reason for suggesting duplicates was to accommodate late-comers whilst at the same time retaining the incentive for not postponing one's involvement. Ultimately, as several members have said; what matters is that it remains simple. Everyone (including newcomers) should be able to understand at a glance. It worked well last year. It was beautifully simple (apart from the slight complication of the teams - although this was nicely adjusted to half points when it was realised that it might provide an advantage to delay becoming involved). However, I'll go along with whatever those who are giving more thought to this than myself, decide upon.
Personally, I'd go with this or, at least, why don't we give it a try? If it turns out that there's some unforeseen unfair advantage, then we change it. There was a fair bit of trial-and-error last year and that's how the game got even better.
Can i please have my beloved number 20 please? I look forward to another season of getting Force India drivers a lot.
Right, I'm going with full points for Australia and we'll see what happens thereafter. Does anyone have any thoughts on North North Watford's handicap idea: the sweepstakes leaderboard leader to score half points in the next race? BTW - Ninja is going to run the sweepstakes - set up the threads, keep track of who picks which numbers and has which drivers and so on, and I'm going to look after the scoring and leaderboard, hence why I'm being so CDO about points allocations.
