9 please. On a side note, I admit to being confused as to why any of the 'b' numbers have already been taken! I will quote the relevant rules as written by BLS in this thread: "5.Forum members should pick one number (from 1 to 24). 6. After all the numbers have been picked, latecomers (who missed the chance to pick a number) can pick a duplicate number (1b to 24b) for a duplicate driver." Have I missed something or have others chosen 'b' numbers for some good reason? Surely choosing them before the standard numbers are exhausted may appear to make it confusing to any new member, especially since it contravenes points 5 and 6?
Yes, I agree. I would have thought it simplest if they are not listed until all of the standard numbers are taken.
Actually those rules were written by me but you do have a point. I think we felt, as the ones who run it and are the most heavily involved, we felt obliged to offer a fair shot to people who hadn't tried this game before.
Ive followed suit with the others and downgraded to a duplicate so 18 is free. Here is the final standings from the 2011 season: View attachment 11349
I'm unsure as to the reason people with the (b) drivers should get half points, I could understand why people with a team got half points, as they have twice the chance to score. Whereas last year it was a tactical way to achieve a better chance of points, this year it's the same as the main draw chances.
I think that was probably my fault, independently consolidated by cosi's succeeding post. In my defence I was more concerned with discouraging people from holding back and not joining in the primary driver picks and, when I posted that comment, we hadn't yet agreed on using duplicate drivers. There may now be a problem with the rules. Forgive me if I've missed a resolution for this issue but can the mods please confirm what they have done with generating numbers for the drivers: a single list of 1-24 intended to apply to both the primary picks and the duplicates, or two lists of 1-24, with different drivers given different numbers depending on whether they're primary or secondary picks? If the former then the duplicate (secondary) picks will have to close at the same time at the primary picks because, obviously, you can't have latecomers picking numbers that have already been revealed. If the latter then we're good to leave the latecomers' picks open until the night before FP1 and I agree with Miggins that they should receive full points - they just won't be eligible to swap their drivers.
The numbers are picked randomly by a computer so it's easy enough to do 1 or 2 lists without bias. I do it on excel and it takes all of 2 seconds so I'm happy to make two lists if thats more ideal. I'll email AG and El_B the list(s) now
Not bothered how the rules go really, if I pick a number and my driver does well.. I will get points. Simple.
