Having said that, it could have easily been five or six and its very much a case of job done. I think Hendo did very well especially considering he was ill. No one else really stuck out for me (Suarez was Suarez) but thought both Sterling and Downing were poor.
I think we should give ourselves credit too today. We didn't allow them in, and keeping the ball and pinging it about soon saw their heads drop and they never recovered. True, they were aweful and we should of got another goal or two, but we'd effectively killed the game after 30 mins.
I agree mate. Villa are awful and we ****ed up. Every one of us before this game thought there was some possibility that we'd **** up again. So credit where it's due. The best way to beat teams who are struggling is to hit them early then kill the game. Its only 3 points as we know so its not a question of getting carried away (hardly likely) but had we lost today it would have been a massive, massive drain on confidence. Bring on the Mackems.
For the first time in what seems like years, we went through the motions and WON. It wasn't our best display but was more than efficient.
You did what you had to do. Not your problem but QPR are a shambles and their players are cheating the club..
Since Fulham, three games ago! I'm not complaining, we got the three points which better than my prediction of a 3-2 loss, but its the style of opposition that makes this win meaningless for me. We know we can beat sides that let us play, we struggle against teams that pack the midfield and press the ball. Fulham and QPR both sat deep and worried about Suarez and Suarez alone, that is the best possible tactic we can hope a team employs!
no surprise this is my first appearance on your board today! to be fair I did say you were going to win and you did (comfortably). It's difficult to know where this puts you, very much seems like one step forward two steps back lately. You've smashed teams lower down like Wigan, Fulham and QPR yet still got beat by most of the top half teams. I did think QPR were really dire today though, Clint Hill on Suarez's first goal who you got next? we've got Newcastle and Sunderland usually play the other team from the same area so I assume it's Sunderland you've got?
Sunderland at Anfield. Clint Hill was wrongly left isolated with Suarez, the QPR defence was too far apart.
