So after the big handball debate, overall not a great performance, and to be fair a draw would have been a fair result, with them deserving the pay day at Anfield. Thought we played well for thirty but then they just seem to want it more than us. Thought Downing played okay again. Shelvey seemed solid enough but Allen seems to be going backwards?
You said it's ok to "tell small lies" suggesting you agree it's ok to "cheat a little bit" but there is such a thing because cheating is cheating. Shirt tugging is a foul, if you do it and get away with it it's cheating. Diving is cheating hence why it's a free kick and yellow card. Someone on BBC text made a good point, if you are offside and put the ball in the net do you stop and say I think I was offside? No, you trust the officials to make the decision and if they say it's fine then you take it.
Thats the job they are paid to do and more often than not now-a-days, get it wrong! Edit, if you try and tell me you've gotten through life on 100% truth? Your a liar!
BBC live text say "Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says Luis Suarez's goal "was a clear handball." That's all they've said... but that's not quite what he meant. Listen to the interview and he actually said it's handball in the way the ball hit his hand but it wasn't deliberate. The officials saw it and said it was handball but not deliberate. Shoddy reporting...
Is the refereeing really that much different to yesteryear? There are just more cameras about nowadays to prove they got it wrong!
I said we would win awkwardly and we did just that. A win is a win though so on to Oldham and a stronger side to start I hope.
I'm nor worried about the Suarez goal. I do think it was instinctive but it is up to the referee and linesman (people) to officiate the game - so not my, Suarez or LFCs problem. As for the game itself. We did not make enough of the first 25 minutes - again! We had total dominance and were just too wasteful. Suso was non- existant and Allen was a waste of space. Who fancies a trip to Oldham?
**** it, ban Suarez to the tower of London and behead him and afterwards parade his carcass on Wembley Way before the cup final.
No not shoddy reprting it's down right misrepresentation. In his interview with ESPN he said that he "asked the 4th Official who said it was a handball". So if Rodgers could not see then it was impossible for it to be "clear"
Liverpool winning via a clear handball followed by a ban...just not Metths day today more black day than green day
Jones scared the hell out of me throughout that match. Coates was a bit of a mixed bag, but for a guy who often gets picked for his height, his aerial ability was non too convincing. Lucas was worryingly off the pace - may well have played himself out of the starting XI vs Man Utd today. Carragher was immense - we were reliant on his organisation and positional sense. Shelvey had a good game and Sturridge showed enough potential to make me feel optimistic that he can succeed in BR's system All in all, that match was a good way to sum up Liverpool's strengths and weaknesses.
