Oh dear. We won't hear the end of that will we? I understand why City fans are mad but you've got to see that Dzeko was fine in the first place. Unless it's a head injury the referee shouldn't be forced to whistle for a stop. What would happen if we put it out? Dzeko gets up and we lose a scoring opportunity. But wait! I hear you already furiously typing: "But Danilo! How are the players supposed to know if it's serious or not?" Well to that I say: It's not the players role to judge an injury. For all the players knew, he could be faking it. It's the referee's role to assess whether or not the game should be stopped. In this case, as evident by Dzeko's miracle recovery, it was the right call.
I don't know what the fuss was about, Sturridge put it out of play giving Dzeko plenty of time to get treatment before the restart.
Only people making a fuss about it will be City fans - all other fans and pundits will say "you let the ref make the decision and it wsn't a head injury so you keep playing". If it had been the other way we would be complaining and City would be saying the exact same thing.
