Sure the tackle could have been far worse but it was still a red card offence without doubt.

  3. If Joey Barton or Luis Suarez him self done that "tackle" there would have been hell to pay. Colo goes to 'do him' but he misses <doh>

I disagree Gerrez but it's a matter of interpretation i guess. I doubt he 'missed' his static leg as you'd have to have terrible co-ordination for that. More likely he had a burst of anger and "went to do him" and then realised it was a bad idea and tried to pull out or just nick him instead. Either way i agree it was a red but I think if any professional footballer wanted to actually properly 'do' another one you'd expect alot more than what Colo did.

ps. Is there any history between the two as I've never seen Colo do anything that dirty before? Just wondering with the whole Argentine/Uruguay thing. Maybe I've just not noticed that side of Colo before.

Didn't he lose his temper once when Elmander was tearing him apart and elbowed him?

Yeah at first I thought he had really meant to hurt him but viewing it from different angles I think you have got it about right.

Colo had a rep as a hot head when at Deportivo to be fair, but I haven't seen that side of him for us before if I'm honest.

People lose their temper, it happens. It's not like he does it every week, he rightly got his marching orders, end of for me.

Lucaas that does sound familiar actually, though only if you count a 5-1 win as "tearing him apart". Which it clearly is!

That was a touch different as from memory it was a flailing arm in a challenge for the ball which, though a red card, is quite different to just walking over to assault another player (which seemed to cross his mind today even if there is disagreement over the degree he carried that out!).

Yup. A lot of footballers lash out when things are going wrong, it at least shows they do care about their performance levels!

The red card should be the end of it really, if Suarez was injured then sure, I think he should've got additional punishment but seeing as no one was really hurt then missing the next 3 games is punishment enough.
