Assaidi is really looking like a quality wide player. It's just a shame there's not always someone in the centre for him to cross it in to! Wisdom just keeps impressing, so comfortable at RB; Jose's gonna have a tough time getting back into the first 11
Oussama Assaidi was accurate with 94% of his 53 passes. He also created 4 chances (same as Shelvey) & beat his man 5 times (most) #fb Also don't tell that progress to MFG, he will find something to moan about with Rodgers.
For Sunday. --------------GK-------------- -Wisdom-Skrtel-Agger-Johnson- -------Gerrard---Allen--------- ------------Sahin------------- ---Sterling-Suarez-Assaidi-----
Assaidi was also the most accurate in the final third (2nd most passes to only Suarez) with 24 passes & 92% accurate. #fb
Hope Downing can kick on and continue to work hard, as much as he has been getting deserved stick from most I'm sure we all want him to do well while has the shirt.
Strong performance from @DanielAgger - 86% pass accuracy (65 passes), all 4 aerial duels won, 2/3 tackles & 2 blocks (most). #fb
I would rather he turned his LFC career around than take a financial loss on him and a replacement to.
Well that couldn't have gone much better. Shame Sterling didn't just roll that ball to Suarez at the end but 1-0, no injuries (I'm assuming Johnson was just being rested?) and top of the group looks good. 2 clean sheets on the 3 clean sheets on the bounce and a couple of goals to add. So, does Reina come back for Everton after 2 pretty flawless games from B.Jones?
Thought he was still doubtful? Anyway the answer is no in my book. You play your on form players. Do Reina (& Jones) good to see that.
ok guys. not a bad result... put us back in a decent position with one home game to go and 2 away. 10 points should see us home. what was good or bad. 1. assaidi.. loved his energy, end product was a little lacking but he was simply a great out ball for us if we bothered to use him.. great show. 2. sahin was decent, i must say he doesn't exact bother himself to sprint or anthing but he really did a good job for the team mostly. would like a bit more get up and go 3. shelvey can't play with gerrard. the lad was confused, gerrard was running on and not getting back then and taking the lads position. he started well (on tactic i suppose) but faded after 10. 4. gerrard period, he;s way off the pace and isn't up to that role. he should have come off for henderson on 65-70 mins. 5. downing at lb, nervy and negative in the end. wasn't happy with his options taken passing it. 6. wisdom was good 7. skertl was excellent 8 agger was robbed. keeper had one hand o nthe ball and that IMO is allowed, he headed out of his hands so the ref was a clown 9. ref: he didn't give many frees did he? he was allowing "obvious" frees just go. 10. suarez, sorry mate ge tout of the middle, you're too deep and make too many errors. 11. the opposition.. nothing special were they? we were the better side all night and its a pity we didn't get more goals. all in all satisfactory, nervy at the end and giving up too many chances but over all it was ok given the midfield i was worred about did cave after 70mins but assiadi impressed, sterling was very lively and the 4 defenders were very good. we need to sort this midfield out!
oh and jones... precisely what did he do to be flawless... they never really threatened. his play on back passes is dire and frankly in both games the opposition didn't go do anything... nice guy, lfc fan, his story is inspirational and sad and all that but on a basic football level reina will be right back in as soon as fit even if he is making errors.
Well, before I saw the team sheet, I never expected that. After seeing the team sheet, I expected the draw, delighted with the win. Wisdom was a god tonight.
Agger's "goal" shouldn't have stood. Put a thing on bbc live text confirming that keeper has control of the ball when he has it in his outstretched arm or when bouncing/throwing the ball. thought Downing was decent at LB, had 1 scary moment with his pass across the box, but I loved all the little passing from the corner in the 89th minute which ended up with an attack through about 6 or 7 passes. Couldn't see us doing that in the 30th minute let alone the 89th under any previous managers.
The fact he did nothing wrong? Saved everything at him, caght everything in the air. Kicked long when needed and passed short when needed. Flawless means without flaw - he commited no errors. I didn't say he had an awesome game and saved us, but he did what he needed and made less mistakes than Reina has made in his last few games.
Right, first thing first. Who was that wearing Stewart Downing's skin? Because I'd like to borrow it for Halloween.
I have no idea how I nearly always disagree with everything you say, to address your points: 2. Sahin's passing accuracy (95%) was phenomenal, he is direct and yet conservative in his distribution. Not only that I noticed he made a couple of great tackles (and one magnificent block) and showed he wasn't afraid to get stuck in. No idea which player you were watching. 4. Gerrard had a very good game. Put through a couple of fantastic passes (the early one through to Johnson (I think) was a highlight). If any other player consistently played those sort of passes you'd be in awe. We need to stop taking his talents for granted, he may not 'shine' as much with 30 yard screamers but he's adapted to a less glamorous role incredibly wel in my opinion. 6. Wisdom was in fact excellent, actually for his age I'd say he was incredible. So assured on the ball, and so strong in the tackle. Great, great talent. 9. One of the best refereered matches I've seen in a very long time. The game flowed so well without the whistle going for every little niggle, notice the complete lack of diving after the players realised it wasn't as easy to con the ref? 11. They are a very good team, and to underestimate them would be pretty foolish. Not only that but they are managed by one of the greatest football managers around, Hiddink does not manage an easily-defeated team. Good performance against a tough team. Stand out performers were Wisdom and Assaidi.
agree with this. It seems unless Gerrard scores he was poor which just isn't the case. Thought it was very refreshing to see the ref let the game flow too and you are right about the exaggeration cutting right down due to lack of free kicks being given.
A win is a win fella's.. Stoke fan with some i hope? constructive critisium.. I think Downing should be told to beat his man and CROSS the ball more.. I lost count of the number of times he could and should have put the ball into their box. A great goal though and, with his right foot. Also think that young lad Wisdon will be a smashing player, he did really well. Old head on young shoulders IMO. Good luck for the rest of the Europa Cup too!
We won, no need to look at anything other than that, winning will give us confidence. Fitness, technique and the system will come with time but confidence only comes with winning. Lets hope we can get another win on the weekend.
