Coutinho is ****ing class. Can't believe how cheap he was, such a majestic player and easily the best passer we've had since Alonso - could possibly be better when he gets a full season, albeit in a more advanced role.
Think Sturridge has scored more goals away from Anfield? It would be interesting if someone could work out our league record for the second half of season compared to first. Sorry I can't be arsed. Would be good to see 3/4 more signings of the quality of Sturridge and Couthino in the summer. Would really have optimism then.
Yes. Good point. Gerrard links well with them all to. But he is not in the final third so much. please log in to view this image
I just stole the stats from Martin Tyler's section on sky sports website that I remembered seeing a few days ago and just added todays result on top of that. I'm not sure what the total record is when you include all football (European & domestic). No doubt we'd be worse off without him, but it does show than we aren't a 1 man team as statistically (at least in the league) we have a better record without him. Michu just equalised for Swansea as well - would love them to ruin the party at OT
They could lose 10-0 and it wouldn't spoil their party Certainly won't see them leave early in this instance either
Off topic but this made me laugh: "Garth Crooks, BBC Final Score "Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is looking emotional. He's a very emotional man."" Cracking insight from Garth there.
I reckon Suso didnt get a game due to the u21s semi final game on Monday against Man Utd. He will be the main man and need to be at his best to get us to the final.
Fair shout but why put him on the bench if we aren't going to play him? This game would have done more for his development than some youth game ever would
Guess he was making up the numbers. Senior games will always give more to the player. But would be nice for the last Liverpool/ Man Utd game at any level under Fergie be a win for us.
Nice text on BBC website Sturidge has scored more goals today than Welbeck has has managed all season Still, he was rightly nominated for the Young POTY though and first choice in the Englan team
Borini looked pretty decent when he came on, Sturridge and Coutinho have really stood up to the test since Suarez got banned, fair play to them . Looked great second half even without Gerrard and Suarez which is encouraging. Win our last game and 60 points in BR's first season is a good return in my opinion, but next season is the real test for him.
Improvement on the eighth and fifty-two points of last season despite having to cut the wage bill and losing a few established internations forcing BR to use the youngsters more than he would have liked. I said at the start of the season that I wanted and expected an improvement on last year so I'm happy with the return whether we win the last game or not TBH. Obviously, we didn't win a cup or reach a final but I'm talking purely about the league. The pressure will be on BR to challenge for a CL spot next season but how much pressure will depend on what happens this summer. If the likes of Suarez, Skrtel, Reina, Agger, etc force the clubs hand and move on (not saying they will) along with Carragher retiring, he will have a big rebuilding job to do as well as trying to improve on the current squad. I think this is a massive summer for BR. He's had time to assess, he's had time to plan since our season as been over for two or three weeks and he should know what current players intentions are, or at least he should have spoken to them to gauge their commitment to the cause. His signings last summer weren't great but because of the Euro's and Olympics, he didn't get a chance to assess the squad either. Having had five months at the club, his January signings were much much better. This is a very encouraging sign IMO. BR does have a bit of trust from me. Its not 100% because of the links to players like Williams but it could just be media talk for all we know.
Can't disagree with any of that mate, I like the way he handles himself, I know people tend to make the Brent comparisons but he comes across a real gent, and honest and know's what is required to manage a club like ours. Very encouraging that he's willing to learn from his mistakes and is not afraid to change things up, but as we know this is a results business but I have some faith in Rodgers and I think he can be the man to push us on further, hopefully he'll prove me right.
And yet again we're slap bang at the end of motd schedule. I hope this time next year we're in a better position. Lets be honest, it's been a forgettable season
I think Rodgers has improved as the season has gone on as his signings improved from summer to january. Couple more sturridge and coutinho quality signings rather than Allen and Borini quality and I'll fancy us for top 4.
