You've convinced me, for a club like Liverpool the past two decades have been hugely successful and long may such success continue. Now with the springboard of the Carling Cup you can aim to keep pace with Newcastle for years to come. The target for next season should be to get closer to the top of the table than the relegation zone.
Champions League x 1 FA cup x 3 League Cup x 4 UEFA Cup x 1 That is nine trophies in 21 years, not that bad for a barren spell and, as Page_Moss_Kopite rightly says, it's not exactly 'failure' is it...? Most clubs would snap your hand off for that record! Obviously there are minor things such as Charity Shield and Super Cups etc but lets not bother with them eh...? Your turn for Man Utd's twenty-six years...
So nine... List Man Utd's trophies for during the 26 year slump. And don't include super cups, charity shields, etc. I'll let you put the division two title in there though.
I think you are deflecting from the fact that you are underachieving. Us United fan will gladly admit we were under achieving and not reaching the standards required by our club. Obviously the standards at Liverpool are lower
Comparing slumps isn't much good to either really. Just hope we can get competing again over the next 2-3 years.
The good news for Liverpool is if they win their game in hand they'll still be 7th. Their next game is massive for them though as it's against one of their big rivals, Sunderland.
Never said it was. We won 7 ( 8 if you include the supercup ) I would personally say both numbers constitute failure for both clubs. Liverpool would swap all bar the CL win for a league title and United would swap all bar the ECC win for the same thing.
Seeming as there is no league title in there my opinion would be yes . It is failure (for Liverpool ) as you have set such high standards for yourself. You should really take it as a compliment
