Far enough, I understand. We lose to Fulham they thrash the **** out of them, we draw against wigan, they thrash the **** out of them. We really have lost that bit of Aura or what little we had left.

I see you put a ref thread up, will have a look at that here in a sec.

I'll put a keg that they want <ok>!

How bloody annoying is Graeme Taylor? Listening to 5Live and he still pronounces Yossi 'Benyanoon'. Is he deliberatly annoying or patently ignorant?

    Cannot pronouce Vernaelen either.

i suppose thinkig that they had been playing in the premier league for soo long would help them, it just hasn't. The fact is there aren't many players available who could fill up the areas liverpool need and it's starting to look like a write off season unless there are drastic changes in january.

Too early to write off and considering we havent started the FA Cup yet and are in the semi's of the CC, we still have a lot to play for <ok>

But I think we for this season for sure, need another creative entity and someone who can score. If heranndez can score goals by kicking the ball into his own face, then someone must be out there to put the ball in the net for us!!!!

carling cup? well... if thats the dream ;)

i more or less meant the laegue, and it's going to get a lot harder to break into the top 6 over the next couple of years. Things need sorting out soon or you may never be back. Missing out on champions league football may be okay for a year or two, but once it becomes consistent it's hard to attract the right players.

we can poke fun at the CC but a cup is a cup and if we win that, imagine the boost it will give everyone. I see a lot of it ( and agree) that we have lost that winning mentality, I think the CC could be that vital boost of it that we need. We also know how damaging it can be for your squad ( Arsenal last year). Mourinho made it one of his top priorities when he first came over as he knew a winning a cup would be the catalyst for everything else he wanted to create and it did ( although we made sure the CL was a distant dream :) ).

Missing out on the CL sucks man, it still feels so weird not watching us in it. The league is still too clsoe to completely write it off, but it is more or less where we really should be if we would stop dropping these silly points, especially at home.

But when play Drogba everyone plays to his strengths. They play Torres and everyone plays to Drogba's strengths and Torres gets **** all. They've been playing to Drogba's strengths for so long they can't seem to do annything else! So they run the risk of still playing to Drogba's strengths when he retires or gets injured, like they were doing last November and it all went tits up.

I reckon they need to get shot of Drogba and Lampard completely - they're like RVN at Utd, if you don't play to their strengths they do absolutely **** all, but if you do play to their strengths you are completely reliant on them. And they aren't good enough for the whole team to rely on them any more.

You paid too much, but it could still pay off. He's starting like Berb did with us - when he's on the pitch people seem to have no idea how to play to suit his style. But over time the team and player will adjust and you should get better out of him, particularly as the pressure of being the big money buy wears off. Dunno if he'll ever be a top class striker, but he's happy to play a similar role in your squad as Berb does in ours you'll have a decent second option.

You could be right about the players, but I wonder how much of an influence Gerrard and Carragher have on the dressing room. As the senior pros and most loyal players, I do wonder if their experiences of near misses and relative failure over the past decade are rubbing off on the new players. Utd's new signings always talked about Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Rio et al and the effect of their title winning experience on the dressing room, do Gerrard and Carragher have the opposite effect? And given how little they play nowadays, would it be worth just moving them along and starting afresh?

I dunno, Suarez, Adam and Carroll all showed they were technically good enough to score plenty at their last clubs. All three of them can't suddenly have lost their scoring technique, which brings us back to the mental thing. Definitely agree about Utd taking their chances tho - we do it too consistently for it to be considered luck, just the same as Liverpool missing theirs too often for it to be luck, inspired goalkeeping, poor refereeing or whatever the latest excuse is.

Didn't you ask Santa to bring you a new drum? ;)

You're betting against City? Brave man <ok>

Any good pubs in Warrington we could meet up to watch City vs Utd in the FA Cup? I could claim my pint then...

I agree - the CC was a big boost for Utd in 2006 after our poor years in 2004 and 2005. It turned our form around pretty much straight away and could have the same benefit for Liverpool. Tho' I dunno if the boost would be worth missing out on the CL - Arsenal and Chelsea will probably never be weaker than this season, and it could be a hard slog to break back in if you miss out on the money and prestige for a third season...

The only 'moving on' I think Gerrard and Carragher will do at this point is into coaching. With Carragher you might argue that he'd be terrible for any other team and it's only his passion playing for us that gets him through games. With Gerrard, you'd say the ship has sailed regarding a big money move elsewhere, both in terms of how much we could get for him and him wanting to leave.

I agree with your second point after watching us play Blackburn. I subscribed to the idea that the opposition GK randomly played a blinder at Anfield (which was in part spurred by the fact they were quite poor in their following games.) But there are plenty of chances we miss which they don't even need to save. There were at least half a dozen that should've been buried on Boxing Day but the target was missed. If we'd put those away, it wouldn't matter if the GK made a cracking save at the end. I don't know what's happened to Suarez. For Ajax and Uruguay (the latter still) he is/was almost a pure finisher/poacher. For us he seems to do all the hard work carving out chances and they slash at it when it comes to a shot.
