A real government would make sure a city is accessible from N/S/E/W and not charge tunnel tolls for people on the other side of the river wanting to get into Liverppol.
still on merseyside and on the coast, so bear that in mind as Liverpool is technically a estuary city, like London, and Bristol.
You pair of twats have moved the goalposts. You were rabbiting about Manchester/Liverpool and now your on about St Helens and Southport.
Only if it was a real city. Liverpool just isn't worth the effort mate... Besides which, it ain't the government who charges the tolls - that's the company that Liverpool Council appointed to run the tunnels. The government wanted the tunnels to be toll free, but Liverpool and Birkenhead didn't stump up enough cash for them back in the 1930s. True. But then all the Menlove in Liverpool means that the Slags have to come out to St Helens to get any action
Nice try Swarbs, but no cigar. It may be a trickle near your craphole, but It's a mighty leviathan of a river when it gets to the celestial city. Need I mention two cathedrals. You've got half a one at best. What IS happening with the virtual footie?
southport eh? could tell you some stories about that place from my scooter days back in the early 80's. but Chops (Rusholme Ruffian) has a better tale, ask him nicely I'm sure he'll tell thee.
Default Man United fans dictating this entire forum. This has to end. I got taken off the Man United forum for no justifiable reason. They can say what they like on any forum and they get away with it. If anyone says otherwise they whine and cry to the super-mods. This has to end. There has to be less strict than the old BBC606 and not ruled by Man United fans. We all know they can give it but not take it. So they shouldn't give it unless they are willing to take it. I reckon we should draw up a petition that says us Liverpool fans should be allowed to say what we like to Man United fans without the fear of punishment and if they overstep the mark, we can get really dirty. There you go boys. I am a technical wizard
The goverment wont pay for the maintainance of the two tunnels so its left to Liverpool,Knowsley,Sefton,Wirral and St Helens council tax payers to foot the bill, the tolls only pay part of that cost and the rest goes into the government transport coffers.
Two cathedrals? Obviously trying too hard...sounds like a textbook inferiority complex... Virtual footy is waiting for Sky to be ready to start. The tolls aren't to pay for maintenance. They're to pay for the fact that the tunnels cost £23 million more than expected to build - estimated cost £14 million, final cost £37 million. The maintenance cost could be paid by a tiny toll, or just paid for out of local taxes the same as local roads in any other city.
