Actually the one I'd pick would depend on the team we were playing. If we were up against someone like Barca or Real I'd have Lucas cos you know he will just sit in front of the defence and do nothing but hassle the opposition and try to win the ball back. But if we were up against a lower table team I'd have Fletch cos he'd get involved with the attacks and his work rate would help break their defence down when we were in possession.
What has that got to do with anything. Kevin Keegan won the Ballon D'or twice, and there is loads of players better than him that never won it.FFS Michael Owen won it.
oh yeah michael owen won it lol why i ****ing dont know, so how many times has a liverpool player won it? compared to united players that is?
The Ballon D'Or was. That's the one that Owen, Law, Charlton, Best and Ronaldo all won. The FIFA WPOTY only started in 1992 so only Ronaldo has won that one.
It doesn't matter when he won it,he won it twice and thats one more than the 3 season wonder. So that destroys your point.
OK, the thread moved about, started with world player of the year, which is recent, but ended up on balon d'or which is european. Lucas has one of those btw, the South American version.
The award means nothing. The fact that Keegan scored more goals, won the European cup and league double with Liverpool and didn't win the award in 77 but managed to win it when he scored half the amount of goals he did for Liverpool for Hamburg in the next season while winning nothing. So yeah, the award clearly is biased, but what can you do?
balon dor is not european anymore mate, since 1992 i think ? You have to play for a european club to win it now Ie messi lol
Oh here we go, world against you, things are always biased towards you smug scousers arent they. Nobody else has it so tough awwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Ironically enough, the Ballon d'Or is now the more prestigious award despite the fact that I presume only European based players are eligible through domestic/continental trophies.
Actually the two awards have now been combined into the Fifa Ballon D'Or. Largely because 90% of the time the same player won both of them!
