In some ways yes but in other ways he let the club down. He was able to drink as much as he wanted and run it off the next day. Others players couldn't so the captain overseeing a drinking culture in the name of team bonding had a negative impact on the club. Daily piss ups in Hale may have been fun but the likes of McGrath and Whiteside probably needed to be at home drinking hot chocolate and who knows what effects all the booze had on Robbo's recoveries from his various injuries.

Atkinson was a **** big time Charlie of a manager who let his players hammer their bodies with booze on almost a daily basis and then wondered why they couldn't win titles. Fergie knocked it on the head from day one which meant upsetting and getting rid of some big players.

All true, they used to have all day Sunday lock in's at The Phoenix pub in Bowden.

I've got no doubt that Atkinson allowing it was the reason they never got over the line for the title as the first eleven during those years was the equal of anyone. They just didn't have the professionalism.

Also, 100% certain the booze contributed to his injury and recovery record.
All three of them had major injuries that they always carried and could never shake off, no coincidence.

Also one of the major reasons SAF believed the side he got to second in his second season would never win the title - they and much of the rest of the team could never stay fit to challenge for an entire season so we just had to get rid and start again.

Makes you wonder - had SAF been at the club when Robson arrived he could have headed the drinking off that much earlier and Robbo could've been even better than he actually was. Scary thought!

As for Suarez as captain - I think that just shows the lack of outfield leadership for Liverpool at the moment. Barring Gerrard and Carragher, who is pretty much over the hill, you don't really have any players with the experience and qualities to be good enough as captain.

Clearly I am a better leader.

For example.... the lack of any racial motivated attacks in or outside the workplace would likely work in my favour.

Not being a cannibal would also help my cause.

Nor would selling meth to the kids of Uruguay <ok>

No he didn't. He was a serial womaniser. He once tried (very hard) to tap an ex of mine up when both he and she were married. This was at the Four Seasons bar at the hotel near Manchester airport <ok>

Liverpool didn`t really have much choice who should be captain yesterday. At least a half of their first team were playing, yet it came to a toss-up between Suarez or Skertel. Shows how weak Liverpool really are.

PMK if you read what i posted on the Swans board you would notice i was sticking up for the Lfc mods by saying i found them to be fair, even though they probably have to deal with more WUM`s than most.
I take it your whistle at the end comes from my tongue in cheek bit?

You have to admire his logic.
