The Torres deal was as much down to Abramovich wanting to wave his wad around as anything else. That and his tendency to desperately throw money around whenever Chelsea have (another) poor season. In all honesty, had the Torres move collapsed at the last second, you know he would have gone for a lot less in the summer when Chelsea had other players to unsettle and plenty more time to do it.

If you could convince Suarez to go play for an Arab or Russian club you could expect to try and push for £50 million. Maybe you could also get that from PSG if they continue to ignore FFP in the hope Platini will save them. But if he asked for a move to a top European CL side, I think you'd get no more than the £35-40 million range Fabregas, Aguero and Falcao moved for when they were in the same situation.

Ultimately it'll all depend on if he asks for a move. If he does, you'll have to try and convince him it's better to chase the money than the medals. If not, I think you'd be mad to sell him for any price - Arsenal have shown that a selling club, even one with lots of money burning a hole in their pocket, can't attract similar quality replacements.

True ( I can't remember if I was one of the ones who scoffed though ).

For some clubs it is the economic realities whereas for the likes of Chelsea and City it's more about try to cmply with the FFP rules.

This and we still don't know that if we sold him for 50 mil say, would we get that money back?

I forgot about another sale that was just way too much- Hulk to Zenit for some 45 mil. <doh>

Aye, that's one that's already biting Zenit back - Denisov and Kerzhakov have demanded new contracts cos Hulk's getting such a huge salary, and Hulk apparently is unhappy at how his teammates have reacted to his big wages.

That, if anything, could be one of the big killers in the transfer market - the economic realities of football are that when you buy a big name player and give him double or treble the wages of equally important players, the other players and their agents start demanding parity. It bit City on the arse after they gave Aguero and Tevez £200k a week when Kompany, Hart and others were on £60k, so it makes it hard for clubs to actually break their transfer and wage structure for a player they are signing until they know how important that player will be for the team.

I know - great way to welcome your new signings and make them feel at home!

It would be like Chelsea greeting Benitez with "Rafa Out" banners. Oh wait...

Well we weren't sure how it was going to work out or if the loophole could get fixed for the mods to be re-instated so we had to have cover. People voted and here I am. <laugh>

So what happened, did all the original mods get demodded or something by mistake or did meth arrive and a code blue was called?

He got two mods demoted as they found a way to ban him without consulting with the higher ups. Started spamming and that was that. He got let back in and spammed again and gone again ( on top of the bad blood caused). Mick fixed the loophole and the mods were given back their duties, hence we have 6. The ban hammer awaits....
