I actually feel a bit sorry for the genuine Chelsea fans tbh (bad that I know), as this is the craziest sacking yet. Albeit old brothel creeping Avram got the can because Terry slipped when taking the pen that would have won him the CL, so maybe we shouldn't be surprised.

I agree, the guy had played for Chelsea and then come back and got them the CL. Madness to sack him.

They sacked their most successful manager ever....

Let nothing surprise you when it concerns Chelsea.

I think they could break all kinds of records this season and have 3 managers before the seasons out.

You're right in terms of the subjective opinion of us as football fans - of course they're not, but the fact that they are the current CL holders means that they're not far off. The poster you were quoting made it sound like big Rafa was going to carry them to the peak on his jack jones.

Whoever gets the Chelsea squad is taking charge of a very good side.

That they are though like other clubs some areas are better than others.

Defence and midfield ( centre part anyway ) will be the issue as well as the striking options which dont exist right now. That area behind midfield though, Oscar and Mata especially ( Hazards done nothing since match day 3 ) just need the right player to finish off their hard work and Chelsea will be fine.

Yeh but the difference was we finished first in the league not 6th.

Ive always said on here when its come up that the best sides win the league and europe. Thats what I consider the best sides in europe. If the CL winners dont win the league then for me there is no stand out side though Barcelona do make that difficult.

For me the best side in Europe last season was Real Madrid. For beating Barcelona in the league and reaching the CL semi finals. They were not the out right best as they didnt win the 2 major trophies but they were the closest.

Roman's strangest decision yet. Sacking one manager who fluked the CL and underperformed in the league to replace him with...another manager who fluked the CL and underperformed in the league. Still, at least it ensures consistency.

I can see the Chelsea job interview now:

RA: "Have you ever won the Champions League, or failing that the Europa League"
    Candidate: "Yes"
    RA: "You're hired"
Candidate: "Great, my philosophy and approach to the game is..."
RA: "Shut up. You are hired, you do things my way now"

Yeah he has, he managed Inter when they'd just won the treble the previous season.

Turned them to ****ing **** within months.

    Look out Chelsea.

Do you think it puts more pressure on Rodgers ?

With Rafa returning to the Premiership and still well respected by alot of LFC fans, what will happen if he does a good job at Chelsea and Rodgers continues to not reach the highest of the fans expectations ?

Probably nothing but I think it could well increase the pressure on Rodgers to get results quicker.

I don't think this season Rodgers is under any real pressure at all, as he's secured a target that I reckon I could deliver with Liverpools current squad.

However, if all goes to plan at Chelsea & Benitez does a good job there for the rest of the season, but is then shown the door anyway, to allow Pep to come in, then I'm sure that scenario would increase the pressure on Rodgers dramatically in the summer, or at least until Benitez was confirmed in a new position.

Nope, totally different circumstances. If he does well at Chelsea which going on form means he has to win the Champions league, FA cup and PL all while playing attractive eye pleasing football for the Tsar; it will bear no comparison with the job BR has to do either in relation to existing squad or the kitty to improve on those squads.

Most fans still like Rafa; of those you have the extreme you haven't let go since he left so will never tolerate anyone else so no pressure from them they are merely waiting for BR to fail.

Others wouldn't have minded seeing him return but back our manager for the job he has to do, no point looking into the past....again.

Those that hated Rafa & would cut their own throats than see him return.

Of course we'll see how the media handles it. They neither like Rafa or LFC so it'll be interesting how they play that one.

As for expectation on BR That's doesn't change because deluded or not; Liverpool fans expect to be challenging in all competitions at the highest level. Some may give him longer than others but eventually he'll have to be doing that or he'll face increasing criticism just as Rafa and any other manager did. As will owners if we feel they aren't providing the right funds at the right time just like we did with Rafa & H&G.
