They're a small club with a small club mentality.

A sort of mate of mine is a die hard city fan. Used to like the violence back in the day an went up for a fight. He is a complete twat.. Everything he posts on fb is city related he posts videos of city proclaiming this is their city etc.. All bollocks.

Last week he posted about being happy to play Madrid .. I pointed out that THAT is small club mentality he lost the plot and deleted his account for a couple of days.. They go on about having the best fans yet they can't fill the council ground at all. I know quite a few city fans and most of them are twats. There is one who is in his fifties and he is sound he just loves Manchester and likes to see united win as he rather it is than any other team.

 

It was exactly the same last season in their FIRST EVER champions league game v Napoli. A bloke came on the radio claiming it was because it was a school night.

Utter bollocks of course, which goes hand in hand with the other utter bollocks stories they like to trip out, like they're a 'massive' club. And that EVERYONE in Manchester is a Man City fan.

They have not always lived in United's shadow at all, you should know that football existed before the premier league and while for the most past we have been more successful it's only really the last twenty years or so we've accelerated away from them. What we have always had though is a bigger and better crowd.

Always. And that's why we take the piss.

I love how he posts like some authority yet knows literally **** all about the relationship between United and City fans.

I've always liked the self deprecating attitude of City fans previously, they were a laugh and took their misfortune well. The fact that now they are genuinely 'massive', if cash is the deciding factor, and still manage to look daft by not filling their ground is further amusement given their now billy big bollocks attitude. I don't blame them for enjoying their success so don't blame us for being able to continue to take the piss.

Piss taking is quite tame. BBT would die if he knew what happens between some sets of fans. Best not tell him, wouldnt want to give the skamp nightmares would we

 

Of course they have a small club mentality, up to a few years ago they were a small club!

Now they can compete with the big boys but it is accepted that their fans still have this mentality, playing Madrid is massive to them, that is completely understandable!

United fans are used to success, City fans are not, I therefore imagine it will take a while for them to get used to it, whilst that happens then it is exceptable to hear them gloating without foundation, that is the nature of football fans. I guess it is difficult for United fans to accept that they have a neighbour that is actually on a par with them footballing wise, hence the digs about fanbase, attendance etc. When you have lost the title to your 'small time' neighbour you cannot seriously debate matters with respect to football alone, I understand that!

 

The 'idea' that the population of Manchester is all City is bogus, you know that, I know that, we all know that! I am actually not sure I have ever heard that claim from a City fan, all I hear is United fans claiming it is not so! As with everything it is subjective!

I understand why United fans take the piss, but for me it is a bit silly! Who cared last season when United fans were celebrating winning the league up until Agueroooooo scored their late winner, about attendance figures? It didn't matter then, they won the league cos of what they did on the pitch, not because of their average attendance....now it seems important! Is it really?

I get the fact that it is a point that United fans feel worthy of commenting on, but it is pretty irrelevant when you think about it! Yeah city have less fans and more empty seats but that didn't cost them last year did it?

 

We have always took the piss out of them for it.. But now goons like you try to make out its through jealously .. It's not we've just always done it.. Always will..

I don't think there is any real hatred between the fans it's all piss takey.. We have the song for as long as I can remember the not back paddy whack give a dog a bone why don't city **** off home.. They do their own version back about united and getting ocean finance on the phone.. It's just piss taking..

I have no issues with them doing well I'd rather it be them than Liverpool or Chelsea

It appears that those roles have actually reversed themselves, as with everything these days it is what happens now that defines something!

City fans used to be jealous of United, and United fans took the piss. Now City are successful, it seems that United fans are bitter and are resorting to attendance figures to get one over them...I would imagine that 99% of City fans couldn't care less what crowd they have, the only people who seem concerned about those figures are United fans!
