TweetShare12 Manchester United are lining up a sensational move for Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie.

The 28-year-old has just one year left on his current deal at the Emirates and there has been intense speculation over whether he will remain at Arsenal.

Van Persie, who has hit 35 goals in all competitions this season, has stated that he will hold talks with Arsene Wenger over his future in the summer.

Manchester City are reportedly ready to pay the Dutchman £250,000 a week to quit north London, while Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been linked with moves.

Now United have joined the chase, with Sir Alex Ferguson planning to strengthen his squad this summer after a disappointing campaign that looks set to end without any silverware.

SkySports understands United have already sounded out the possibility of van Persie making a switch to Old Trafford, and are prepared to splash out big on the former Feyenoord man.

I accept that City aren't going to go away, in fact I welcome the challenge. It's what we at United thrive on.

If City had not been there this season then a United side, who everyone keeps telling us is poor, would have absolutely walked this league.

 

That's an interesting one. I remember last season when they sold Nasri and Wenger refused to let him go to us cos he saw us as a bigger long term threat to Arsenal. I wonder if Wenger will now see City as the long term threat and refuse to let RVP go to them, or if he still sees Utd as the major force in the PL.

 

I dont care, its almost certainly never going to happen but just take a second to imagine Rooney and RVP...

Arsenal wont deal with City again I dont think if I am honest, the way they conduct themselves (City) will also hamper their plans for world domination.

 

I really hope RVP doesn't go to either City or Utd, it's just not worth thinking about.

You know full well United will come back stronger, better and more eager for the title. The massively superior Chelsea ( to City ) couldnt stop us and like **** City will change much in their 2 years stint as a slighlty bigger than Stockport County club.
