Exactly. Perhaps we should accept that our team is perfect the way it is, and disregard improving it any way shape or form.
I defined why I believe the opinion is rubbish ie the lack of tactical and/or personnel proposals. I am NOT attacking the individuals, I AM attacking the simplistic bleatings offered as criticism. However, there are a number of posters on this board who would suffer an apoplexy were they ever to even damn with faint praise Gerrard or Lucas. Sure no player is above criticism and my defence of these two players is not meant to stifle that. Rather, it is intended to put a brake upon insidious moaning.
I was referring to my comment on Gerrard (in post match thread) shouldve challanged for their goal and you said what a load of crap! I still think he shouldve done but thats my opinion, I dont always agree with what you say but differing opinions creates debate Gerrard did far more right than wrong yesterday but I was just highlighting what I felt for their goal Anyway no harm done fella and I think we're now both clear that I am never wrong
No you should make realistic arguments and at least accept that neither player is actually lazy - that's just bloody insulting!. Somehow, people who hold the same view as you believe that not only should Gerrard be the only playmaker that we have on the pitch but he should, at the same time be creating space and covering attackers. Bloody hell even Clarke Kent can't do all that at the same time! Lucas, even at his best, is not a tackling DM. He will always jockey opponents into non-critical areas or spaces were we can regain the ball by weight of numbers. Forcing him into playing a quasi- Masch role is one of the main reasons that he picked up so many cards so quickly!. The lack of an attacking midfielder since Courtinho's injury has inevitable meant that neither of our DMs have often had a short pass creative option in front of them. Then we have to consider the chaos, at least in terms of personnel and formation that is going on behind them. Are we playing 3 or 4 at the back? What are the FB's roles and where will they be positioned and accountable for? Many have argued that it's too easy to get through our midfield. Well in the Southampton game and the second halves against Swansea and United there was little of no assistance from the rest of the midfield for Gerrard and Lucas. Even against Palace what cover did they have in front of them to slow progress? So perhaps if you and others were even prepared to consider that there was another view and that even if only some of our points were valid then you may be able to make more considered recommendations.
