Spain U21 v Russia U21 today at 17:00 (5:00). Should be a compelling match and the Brazilian-born Rodrigo (who plays for Spain) could have a great tournament. Alan Dzagoev is in the Russian squad, which is rather odd given that he played (also was joint top goal-scorer) during last years senior Euro competition. I believe he is suspended for this match though.
im not one for the tinfoil hats, but did anyone see the bbc sports web page coverage of the England U21 game last night? Seems a few people are pissed that their are Liverpool players in the team and not Man Utd players. Was a bit of a joke!
Thats what happens when you take the Liverpool players out and replace them with scum players. Hopefully they even realise Zaha is hugely over rated.
Lost 3-1 with our goal coming from a soft penalty decision. Don't understand why players like Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Rodwell who could have all played in this tournament, instead got picked to play 2 meaningless friendlies when they could have got experience playing tournament football. Look at Spain who pick the best players possible no matter if they are already full Internationals. Mata played in the last one just after (or before?) playing for the full Spanish team at the Euro's.
Maybe with the financial boost clubs can invest in youth and in 10 year or so maybe we might have some hope.
I think Roy ruined this for Stuart Pearce and may have ruined Pearce's future career with the England team. Chaimberlain, Walker, Wilshere, Rodwell, Welbeck and Jones were all eligable for this tournement and would have given us a pretty good looking team. But Roy chose to pick them for two pointless friendlies. Apart from Jones and Chamberlain they only playe cameo's to.
So much for "At least the u21s are good" Don't get me wrong, we have some promising young talent and we didn't exactly help ourselves in regards to the players that we have missing, but the XI that played tonight should have done a lot better. For all the hype surrounding Zaha and Ince, Redmond was the only bright spark
TBH Redmond has been the only bright spark over the 2 games. It has looked like a collection of players that don't know each other thrown together and hope. So basically the FA has continuity at least.....
Yeah, Bob Hope Clubs will invest in youth (as they're forced to have so many "home growns" in their squads) but they will use the loop hole and invest in quality young foreign players too.
Well that was over quick Congratulations to Stuart Pearce and the U21's in proving that no young English player is worth more than a few Million (if that). Its going to be a rough decade as far as English national football is concerned, I'm just glad my interest with international football is at an all time low.
Yes, U21 competitions are as pointless as reserve games. All they show is how good your players who are not good enough to play for the first team are.
what!!! runined this for STUART PEARCE!!! the guy is awful and had been bloody awful for years. if we really honestl look at the players playing they should have done a lot better and frnakly pearce is a ****e... he has not style ever to any of his u21 games.
Don't worry lads, English football is on the way up. I mean, we've invested all that money into a new training facility where the same same **** coaches who've been training players to be average for the last 20 years can continue to train players to be average but on nice new fields! Really frustrating how incompetant the FA are.
That'll be the same FEW **** coaches. Don't we less than 25% of coaches than the likes of Spain and Germany?
Hope for england would be similar to hope for Tahiti. Making it to the airport would be considered a success
