Rooney needs to drop deep I agree. But the midfield need to still give him the ball after winning it and holding on to it. Can the English midfield, hell or any British/Irish players retain the ball? No. This is the same debate which has been raging for over 20 years. Nothing has changed.
im still confused about Ferdinand's snub, he has been the best consistent english defender, Lescott has been carried by Kompany, Remember the time Konpany was out and Lescott looked soo nervy and looked crap. How can even an inexperienced defender Kelly get ahead of him too? How can Glen Johnson who's really shaky in defending get ahead of Richards? Ferdinand ain't past it, he proved he's not last season. Carrick is also another wasted England talent. England never learns its lesson do they? If France were to score a goal, it will be a defensive mistake by England, you heard it here first how can player's who has been piss poor this season like Hernderson and Downing get in the team easily while player's like Ferdinand couldn't? Rio's omission is clearly not Footballing decision, thats a lie, he just didn't want Terry and Rio in the same squad.
Simple really. If England fail and lets be honest not many are expecting great things, Roy is going to be slaughtered in the media. They'll argue why didn't he pick Rio like his inclusion would make all the difference in the long run.
I cant see it myself TBH Matth. I think england could beat the french 4 -0 with young and welbeck getting a brace and as soon as rooney is eligible he will be in Remember this is a team that took half fit (metatarsal) players who subsequently were slated I have a theory that certain players have to play to get the endorsements money, regardless Otherwise how else do you explain it NB started typing this 2:20 neighbour knocked on.
Very interesting question. If Welbeck and Young both play great and score goals in the 1st 2 games then who knows and it will give Hodgson a headache over who to pick.
Here are both teams line ups for the game France: Lloris, Debuchy, Rami, Mexes, Evra, Nasri, Cabaye, Diarra, Malouda, Ribery, Benzema. Subs: Mandanda, Giroud, Matuidi, Reveillere, Menez, M'Vila, Martin, Ben Arfa, Valbuena, Clichy, Koscielny, Carrasso. England: Hart, Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole, Milner, Gerrard, Parker, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Young, Welbeck. Subs: Green, Walcott, Henderson, Carroll, Baines, Jones, Jagielka, Downing, Defoe, Butland.
I really like this Hodgson system. Gerrard is in a Pirlo-like role, sitting back and spreading passes. We might not be entertaining like Germany but we're playing to our strengths.
