I take issue to Hodgeson playing the same team every game. Made us predictable and Milner and Young should have been out after Sweeden IMO. But generally i think we cant blame him. made it to our level. The standard of the players simply isn't what it was in 2006, then we were underperforming. Now its just not there
Thought it would be Rooney who would miss as you could clearly see he was ****ting it when he went to take it but at least one United player scored. Young should never have been on the pitch in the first place but at least he had the bottle to volunteer to take a penalty (cough cough Carroll)
As long as we are all clear, Liverpool players walk away with dignity in tact. Man U players need to hang their heads in shame (less so Welbeck)
,Gtf,he wasn't chosen as one of the first 5 but was in line to take his turn should it have gone beyond the 5.
You know for sure he wasn't down as the next taker? You seen the list? If he didn't step forward, at least Carroll wasn't deluded enough to think he would be able to take on. If young had a brain, he would have reasoned..."Right I've been the worst player of the tournament, best not take a pen and bollox it up and get England sent home before the postcards"
Yep carrols fault for not missing a penalty. Young missed the target from the pen spot. Says it all about his tourney. Cole's was worse that Youngs though. Rooney took a good penalty. Baloteli did well considering he was facing Hart who almost saved it. Rooney showed clearly that hte spot in the squad was wasted on him.
Yeah, its not like he dropped back to defend opposition corners and dropped deep to help the midfield stilfle opposition attacks. His England stat of 2 goals in 7 is better than Wellbeck's 2 goals in 9,he scored as many in the Euro's as Rooney. We know his capabilities but dont lay the blame for England getting knocked out on someone the vast majority dont rate when so called 'superstars' were piss poor.
The whole team was piss poor, but it didn't take everyone long to blame it all on the United players. England had no midfield, they were playing like another line of defenders most of the time which left the strikers isolated and chasing long balls, and even with 8 defenders they got caught out time and time again with simple balls in behind, I was amazed we even made it out of the group stage because we weren't even the second best team in that group. People seem to think England should play like Spain or Germany, but the truth is that we struggled to play like Greece!
Why did Ronaldo not take one? Alves was too nervous to remember the shooting order, of course he was going to miss.
Just watched some of the now bi-annual spanish parade. 3 major tournements on the run is dreamland and they deserve the trophy in the end it has to be said. Bored me for a long time but they were sublime yesterday. Oh well. Moving on to 2014.
