I hope people realise France barely put in any effort at all in the game and still looked a far better side on the ball. England looked scared at times, unable to string 2 passes together and for 15 minutes before half time we didnt have a touch. Really cant see where the goals are going to come from though, so poor going forward. Did anyone expect milner to score? Honestly?
That's a really cynical assessment mate. I'm no fan of the national team but I can see that that was an acceptable performance in the first game of a tournament against a good side. The reason we're not exciting is that we don't have the players. You can not make a top class side out of average players so what you do is the best you can with what you've got and realise that is all you'll get. If you watch these games expecting a United/Barca/Real Madrid performance you will be ****ing very, very disappointed. We played well. We've no chance of winning this thing but with that draw a good chance of going into the quarters. Be realistic, don't be like the press.
I did t think we played badly, held our own, caused them problems we opened them up on a number of occasions. Some decent performances.
Maybe a little but its also fair. I dont see the point in looking for positives as if there were any big ones we wouldnt need to look for them. At times we looked half decent, Oxo was interesting as he did try to run at France but Young and Welbeck never got the chance. Im cynical because lets be honest, France were dire themselves at times but yet England just wouldnt try and exploit them. An attack of Young, Welbeck, Oxo should of at least caused a few nervy moments for France, we most certainly do have the players to break quickly if we wanted to...... We played for a draw, dont think we expected to score and it shocked us that we did hence the rubbish we saw before half time.
What are Sweden like these days? Will the performance against France be enough to see off Sweden and Ukraine or do England need to step it up a bit to get the results. 2 more draws wont be enough and I fear the horrific crowd in the Ukraine game will be to much for some players.
Ive watched a few games on the ITV and BBC sites and would like to say I have never seen such bad quality streams in my life. 5 years ago the illeagle streams were not this bad. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17875286 Check that **** out, awful, no idea who is who. Im using a £3000 Alienware laptop aswell incase someone says its my laptop, this ****er runs everything and doesnt break a sweat.
France were indeed ****. I never personally thought they were any good anyway, in fact I know with absolute certainty that they are average at best, in exactly the same way I don't bother to get my knob out and **** off everytime Spain take the field. I also know England are **** so I expect nothing, in that respect I am mildly impressed by tonight's performance. Good draw I reckon. And, while I am at it, Joleon Lescott played very well.
Because it's a real match rather than the playstation. As a squad Hodgson is doing a fine job and if it doesn't please people that are ignorant enough about football to think we should all play like Barcelona then even better. We got a quite comfortable draw from the best team in the group on paper and have given ourselves a good chance of winning the group.
I watched the England game as a neutral and my god it was crap, it was like they were waiting for something to happen, i hope they aren't like this for most of the tournament, i thought Welbeck and Young had good games, i still feel England will shock a few people in the coming weeks.
You do know that to win something you must have the ability to score, England had 1 shot on target all game, from what was essentially an attacking team. How and where do you see the goals coming from? Against what is likely the weakest defence in the group we created **** all. Our goal came from a retaken free kick and the one chance we did have was fluffed by some **** ****. So win the group eh? With 3 points after 3 draws I suspect your thinking......sorry but thats impossible.
It wasn't an attacking team. They went for a point and they got it. Given the small amount of time Hodgson has had to work with these players it makes sense to ensure the defence is sound and to try and nick games as we don't have the ability to match France, Spain, Germany etc. blow for blow. When we did go forward we looked quite threatening and carved France open with that Milner chance. The centre-halves are too slow to risk pushing the central midfielders up and, if we played how you and the rest of the youtube generation would want, we'd leave the defence exposed and get overrun. For the next two games the mentality should still be to keep it tight at the back and nick goals when the opportunities arise.
