Played pretty well, shame about the equalizer. Probably the best game of the tournament soo far. I think young needs to play a little deeper to link the play with wellbeck and midfield.
Best game of the tournament so far? HAHAHAHA that is the most retarded statement i've ever heard, what the f--k have you been watching?
It has been! tactically been interesting and there's been some quality attacking football. I dont see what's wrong with that statement. More entertaining than the spain v italy game.
Oxo looking hungry but England's midfield is nonexistent so I can't see them having too many chances. Sent from a mobile device.
You can't be serious. All but Ned vs. DEN have been better games than this. France trying to 'play' but it's still a relatively stale game. Sent from a mobile device.
Milner F F sake my granny would have scored from that chance? The guy is clueless. Tactically we're **** but that ref is just as bad. We're sitting back and asking for trouble IMO.
I retract my previous statement, even Ned vs Den was a better game than this. Can't believe TheBear is saying it's the best match of the tourney. Very negative tactics by England, although I guess it could be argued it got them a point they couldn't have earned otherwise. But what should be worrying is that the counter-attacking game that should complement the defensive tactics weren't working at all.
France edged it - but good to see a team that worked hard for us. We just seemed slow to think and react at times. Cabaye got away with 4 pro fouls (but he's pretty good). The Ref was really poor - and therefore looked biased.
I'm proud of what we've done. Anyone moaning about the lack of chances or attacking intent is quite frankly deluded and out of touch with our expectations. If we'd played attacking, Nasri and Cabaye would've ripped us apart. A draw is a good foundation to build on. I expect us to get 5 points from the group.
A draw is a draw, nothing more, nothing less. England have started many tournaments with a draw, and it proved to be no foundation to build on, so saying this is a good foundation to build on isn't really based on good empirical evidence, it's just a draw. . On the face of this performance, England would struggle against the likes of Spain, Italy, and the Germans. I shudder to think of what would happen if England met Spain.
The quality dropped in the second half so I retract that statement. still a decent game. England weren't that negative. It was hardly 'long ball' - just counterattacking.
Actually with those tactics they could frustrate Spain and get something on the counter. Actually scoring is a different issue though. Not a single decent counter attack all game today.
On paper (because England never make things easy) that's the hardest game out of the way. The real challenge will be asserting ourselves and going for the 3 points against Ukraine and Sweden. We played the same way against Spain and didn't do too badly. Granted, that was a friendly but Spain's style of play doesn't change either way.
