Watched the race last night and I have to say I was very disappointed with the experience. I love F1 but watching them daudle round is not great and the lack of revs is awful - I'm assuming that when they get to full revs they will sound and go much better. As a Mclaren fan I am chuffed with the result but worried about their pace and worried that if Merc are as quick as we think they are and can sustain that for a full race I am worried for the sport.
Don't know if mentioned but the stewards found the 1st lap crash was not kobayashi's fault and was due to a rear break failure
I don't think there's a lot more to come in terms of revs, I don't think they gain a lot by going all the way to 15k, hence why most teams didn't go over 12k. What should hopefully improve is the volume coming through on the broadcast. Last year the volume needed turning down so you could hear the commentator, and it sounds like that has yet to be turned up to compensate for the reduced engine noise. Also, I'm fairly sure claiming Force Majeure was taken out of the regulations last season.
As soon as he started describing what happened, and then seeing the replay of it, I was pretty sure it was the brake by wire.
Have to say I think Rosberg was nowhere near pushing for the second half of the race. Unbelievably quick race car but I am hoping it is more Mercedes have prepared outstandingly and that there will be a catch up from the other teams over a few more races. What is their big advantage? Power? Rear downforce? I've mentioned before that I think the McLaren looks really useful turning in, but doesn't seem to have the drive and launch on exit, whereas you watch the Mercedes and it just powers away. I don't think aerodynamically it has as much potential as some others, but with a power train so far ahead, it may not matter for some time?
One thing that may worry the others, Hamilton only had 5 cylinders at the start yet only the other Merc made any meaningful ground on him off the line.
Mercedes just have the only real working car on the grid at the moment they have most areas covered against other teams this early on but it should go down over the months as you can gain more on rivals than pulling away from them in my opinion. In Rosberg's video he was saying he was only pushing "because the tyres were getting cold"... Yeah that and Hamilton was easily holding Alonso at bay and could of probably beaten him with 5 cylinders until the car just entirely failed on him.
I like the new style of BBC write-up (warning for strong language) http://www.gizoogle.net/index.php?s...t/0/formula1/26618348&se=Gizoogle Dis Shiznit
Reminds me of Sniff Petrol's Crazy Dave Coulthard column. Sadly, no Crazy Dave report from Aus yet. http://sniffpetrol.com/category/crazy-dave/
Talking of Sniff Petrol, their season previews are always worth a giggle too. http://sniffpetrol.com/2014-formula-1-guide/
Alonso had no ERS for the first 3 laps, so I'm not surprised he couldn't get past Hamilton. Look how easily Hulk passed him on the first lap: please log in to view this image
Charlie Whiting has reportedly said Red Bull were first warned of Ricciardo's fuel flow irregularity after just 5 laps.
If they can tell live in the race then surely a warning flag, a pit penalty or black flag should have been issued not leave the fans confused after 5 hours from the finish. #modernDayF1Problems
