, That's because you'd prefer Chico I couldn't disagree more. He has been a great signing for us and has got better as the season has progressed. If we sell him, we will at least re coup the money we paid for him. I don't want a defender that stands out, I want a centre half that does his job, defend, and he certainly does that.
Of those who may possibly go Fernandez is the one I would least like to lose We as fans always tend to get excited about attacking players but I think the partnership of him and Ash is excellent and is something very important in this league.
Totally agree with you. Fernandez looks a class act and has just got better and better throughout the season. There aren't many centre half partnerships in the Pl better than him and Williams.
Swansea City linked with Chelsea striker Loic Remy http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...tory-26656580-detail/story.html#ixzz3cTeGFcfu What you think guys. He's good but not for us imo. Can you imagine two temperamental strikers leading our line, Remy and Gomis. They'd be falling over their bottom lips from day one. Me no likey.
Whilst I agree to an extent, I actually think he's one of the few players in our squad that perhaps gets over-praised...I know £8m doesn't get you a lot these days, but whilst he's a very talented defender his distribution is by far the worst in the team (behind Fabianski on a number of occasions!) The argument will be he's there to defend, but our style relies heavily on decent passing from the back and this is something I really hope he works hard on over the summer. Just imo.
Think it would be a great signing and think he is a class act, my only worry is his injury record, from memory think he has a lot of injuries.
I'm not sure about him TLF. He strikes me as a moody, temperamental character but of course I could be well wrong. He wont come cheap though, that's for sure and is possibly out of our price range on salary alone. Just think what Chelsea are paying him. I think this is a non starter, but as I say, I could be well wrong. I know I'm sounding like a one hit wonder but I still think we should be driving hard down every possible route that leads us to Alexandar Mitrovic.
The point I was making is HIS wants and OTHERS' perception. If he wants to be back in international contention it is more likely to happen in Italy or Spain (or top 4 club) and that may influence HIS decisions. While we would expect a big transfer fee his status across the footballing world has not risen while at Swansea and he's a year older and he's no longer a current international. That is the only point on which you disagree with me. But then you couldn't agree more!!!! You said - 'has got better as the season has progressed' exactly - I said he 'took a while to settle and is very solid in a very good partnership'. - you agree. You said - 'I don't want a defender that stands out,' - I said, 'he doesn't stand out'. - you agree. You said - 'I want a centre half that does his job, defend, and he certainly does that.' - I said, 'we see his worth week in week out, the wider world doesn't.' & 'is very solid in a very good partnership' - you agree. I prefer Chico - we agree, but only because he gave us flair as wells as being a great defender and this season the only players with real flair have been Wilf & Montero everyone else has been workmanlike ... very good but a bit haven't really given me that extra bit of buzz.
I don't think we could afford his current wages either. Mind you if he was to take a cut then maybe, What I will say for him is 21 goals in 47 appearances in the PL with Newcastle and Chelsea. Has PL experience so no time to adjust. I think between him and Gomis we would have enough goals to keep our PL status, As for Mitrovic, could be a great signing and his record of 36 in 69 appearances at Anderlecht is impressive, but can he do it in the PL, probably and has youth on his side. I would be more than happy with either.
Remy's stats are excellent TLF, check them out http://theswanseaway.co.uk/2015/06/...kburn-men-who-could-be-targeted-this-summer/? Far better than I previously thought, very impressive
Swans target has a £10m on his head... Swansea remain in the hunt to sign Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes but would have to pay £10million for his services. London24 have reported that Rovers have given Rhodes the price as they want to make sure that they get as much as possible for the highly-rated forward should he decide to leave Ewood Park - See more at: https://www.clubcall.com/swansea-city/10m-fee-to-scare-off-swans-1771729.html?#sthash.cqnt6unM.dpuf Read more at: https://www.clubcall.com/swansea-city/10m-fee-to-scare-off-swans-1771729.html?
Arry Redknapp has tweeted "Heard Swansea are close to signing Andre Ayew from Marseille. He's on the way there with his agent Mark Mackay to do the deal. Good player."
I read that too Glam, very odd thing for Arry to tweet or get involved in even. Thing is, with Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle also interested its far from a done deal imo, we'll have to wait and see. In the mean time Bafe response to Arrys tweet @Redknapp If that is true, it's a good news for swansea and the Jacks !! — Bafétimbi Gomis (@BafGomis) June 9, 2015
I hope we don't sign Rhodes, I am sure if he was good enough someone would have taken a punt on him by now. He is not for me.
Absolutely TLF, just don't see him wearing the old White and Copper either. Not that impressed with his highlight reel on youtube, most of the goals are tap-ins, gimes' or result of poor defending
Apparently on way to Liberty with agent to meet manager and board. Now this is one I hope is true. Is he on a free? If so maybe we are doing the same as we did with Bafe and incorporated some sort of fee in to his wages.
Latest player we're linked is that well known, red hot goal machine Stefano Okaka Chuka. Apparently, Alexandar Mitrovics' cost/price keeps going up, up and out of our reach so we've apparently changed targets and are looking at this guy. Cant say I'm overly impressed
Ayew, free as a bird TLF, lets hope he can fly like a Swan . From WalesOnline "His (Ayew) contract expired this month after Marseille failed to strike a new deal with Ayew. It comes as L'OM have struggled to keep their top stars after adopting a stringent salary policy which could also see French international Andre-Pierre Gignac leave this summer. "Back in February, Ayew said he would not accept a paycut and as a result he is one of the most highly sought after free agents of this summer's transfer window." http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/who-andre-ayew-meet-tricky-9419604
very poor goal scoring record, see he was at Fulham and didn't do much there either. Hope we can do better than this.
Promising Ayew HAS held talks with Swansea City.....................................will continue on Wednesday 10 June when the player could also have a medical. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33071470
