Swansea City reportedly make offer for €9m-rated Kolbeinn Sigthorsson http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014...eportedly-make-offer-for-9m-rated-ajax-star/? http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...er-Kolbeinn/story-21204056-detail/story.html?
9 million euros for a player that has been injured 50% of his time at Ajax, rarely scored for the club and never performed well on a weekly in Amsterdam? What the hell is Huw doing lately??
I'm not saying Sigthorsson is absolute shaite, he maide crucial and extremely important goals for Ajax this season, even mentioned him in my blog as one of the bargain buys for the summer. But 9 million pounds?!?!
I realise I'm not adding to the debate on the quality of the player, but does it make you feel better that it's €9m, not pounds? That would only be £7.3m.
Leicester City, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Stoke City are all chasing Manchester City midfielder Emyr Huws, according to the Daily Star. The Daily Mail have reported that Burnley have also shown an interest. Manchester City are keen to get the 20 year old some first team Premier League experience and if reports are to be believed the youngster is not short of options; with Leicester City, Swansea City, Crystal Palace, Stoke City and Burnley all said to be interested. Huws spent time on loan at Championship outfit Birmingham City last term where he impressed during his 17 appearances for the Blues. However it is now understood that Manchester City want to former former Swansea City trainee to experience the Premier League. The youngster made his international debut earlier this year when he came on as a sub for Wales in their friendly match against Iceland. Huws currently has two caps to his name. - From some bullshit site
3 million pounds tops for a striker that has been injured for a year and a half during his 3 seasons at Ajax, where he scored no more than 28 goals in total. The experts and the media were all very clear: not good enough for Ajax. 7.3 million pounds is just bonkers.
So Sidwell goes to Stoke and Colback looks set for Newcastle (he better take care walking the streets in Geordieland).
You maybe right . Club statement Published: 09 June, 2014 by Sunderland AFC Club comment on Colback departure. After the announcement that Jack Colback has signed for Newcastle United, SAFC has issued the following statement: “Jack is a player we have nurtured and developed through our academy system since he was eight years old. We gave him the opportunity to become a professional footballer and are therefore extremely disappointed in the events that have led to his departure from the club. “This wasn’t about money - the club agreed to all of the terms demanded of us during discussions and we were always led to believe that Jack wanted to stay with us. At his and his representatives’ request, final talks were put on hold until the club secured its top flight status. To our dismay however, we were subsequently never given the chance to negotiate with him to stay. “For him to then leave the club that has supported him throughout his formative years in such a manner, with no chance for Sunderland to recover any of the significant investment that it has made in him as a player, has left a bitter taste." and that is why the Club should be firm with any dealings with players and especially the swamp rats called agents .
If Sunderland wanted him that much they should never have let his contract run down like this. They should have sorted this last season and not waited. (ubless last year he refused to sign).
Last time it was Danny Graham, this time it's Troy Deeney. Watford topscorer for the past two years has been linked to half the PL including us. http://www.clubcall.com/swansea-city/watford-ace-linked-with-swans-1728613.html?
Swansea City eyeing up Atalanta midfielder Luca Cigarini - likened in Italy to Juventus pass master Andrea Pirlo "It is known Monk wants a midfielder to boost his options in the central area that will remain key to Swansea’s gameplan Swansea City are claimed to be eyeing up an Italian in the midfield mould of Azzurri World Cup ace Andrea Pirlo. Swans manager Garry Monk is keen to push on with his squad re-shaping as he looks ahead to his first full-season in charge of the Liberty Stadium side. It is known Monk does want a midfielder to boost his options in the central area that will remain key to Swansea’s gameplan under the former defender. And there have been suggestions overseas that Atalanta playmaker Luca Cigarini has been attracting the interest of the rookie boss. Cigarini – who has been likened to influential Juventus and Italy veteran Pirlo in terms of his pass-master playing style – has impressed in Serie A enough to see him linked with a move to AC Milan with his future up in the air at Atalanta. Currently co-owned by Napoli, a change to the rules in Italy mean the two clubs have to agree a deal between them or see him move on, with Premier League clubs Sunderland and QPR also cited as potential suitors with his agent confirming there is interest at home and abroad. However, despite the pedigree of the former Italy squad member, Monk’s eagerness to bring in young players into his squad could see the 27-year-old ruled out as a serious target. The Swans are thought to be keen on Crystal Palace’s Wales rookie Jonny Williams while former Swans youth product and Williams’ international colleague Emyr Huws has recently been touted as a loan target with Manchester City happy for the Llanelli-born 20-year-old to gain top-flight experience after a successful spell in the Championship with Birmingham last term. Monk though is likely to be keen to concentrate on other areas of the squad first, especially with a need to offload players he does not see part of long-term plans in order to free up space in the squad and on the wage bill. Swansea want a wideman – and have reportedly shown an interest in West Ham’s Ravel Morrison – but it is thought centre-back and centre-forward are of more pressing concern, with talks with striker Luc Castaignos set to start on his and chairman Huw Jenkins’ return from holiday after a £6.5m bid was accepted by FC Twente."
Looks like we might be in for Levante's Pape Diop , 28 year old midfielder from (I think Senegal ) ..Palace have shown some interest too I think .. valued at 3 million ..
Emnes deal moves closer? - http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...iddlesbrough/story-21247000-detail/story.html

I wouldn't say he's worth £1m but there you go. I'm still living in the happy dark ages of transfer fees
Marcus Alonso.... "Swansea City are set rival Sunderland in a bid to sign defender Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina, according to the Sunderland Echo. The left-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland, impressing in his 16 Premier League appearances for The Black Cats. However, he is thought to be surplus to requirements at Serie A side Fiorentina, despite only moving from Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer last summer. Alonso started his career in his homeland, joining Real Madrid’s youth ranks in 1999, before going on to make just one appearance for the first team in La Liga. He joined Bolton from the Santiago Bernabeu in 2010, spending three years and playing just 46 times in all competitions for The Trotters. Suitors However after his latest stint in England’s top division, the 23-year-old has gained many suitors, with West Ham United also said to be competing for his signature. Yet any club that wishes to sign the Spaniard will have to part with some money, as Alonso still has two years left on his contract at the Viola. But this will not bother Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, as he prepares to pursue the full-back. The Uruguayan told the Sunderland Echo, “We are doing everything possible so that Fiorentina give him to us.” Desperate The Stadium of Light outfit are desperate for new full-backs, having seen Santiago Vergini and Ondrej Celustka return to Argentine side Estudiantes and Turkish club Trabzonspor respectively following loan deals. The Black Cats have also lost former Manchester United trainee Phil Bardsley after allowing his contract to expire, with the 28-year-old signing for Stoke City."
