Got to agree .... as it is scored to a 1 point stake against returns surely the grade of race is fairly irrelevant? Don't know how you change it except by scrapping the bonus system completely. We have all filled our selections with mainly top graders in order to qualify for the bonus. Over to you Ron/Odd
I just administer it according to the Rules Reebs. I think to remove the bonuses now would really invite requests to change selections. One 20/1 winner in a non group race is roughly equal to 3 odds on group 1 winners. As you say, the bonus system has steered most of us towards the most likely looking G1 winners and therefore few will gain any advantage from any of the big 5 or so winning
It's harsh though as you could have a 16/1 winner in a 28 runner handicap and then get done by Don Cossack winning three consectutive 2 and 3 runner races at 1/6 etc. It's a bit of fun at the end of the day but it just reflects badly among good selections.
As you say STH, it's a bit of fun. We all saw the rules and picked our horses accordingly. To win it with mainly SP points would provide a nice sense of achievement though

This is a 3 mile Chase (Group 1) 11 fences to be jumped. And as the leaders go over the first, beeforsalmon has gone into a clear lead from woolcombe-folly007 closely followed by DreverSpur and Double Honour. Then comes cityhull together with floridaspearl, stick and Bostonbob. These are just ahead of Boomdocker, Dave Fishwick, TopClass and SaveTheHumans. A long gap back to OddDog who leads the trailing bunch
For info there is a fence halfway through each month and one at the end of each month. I was thinking of running a commentary like the above after each fence. Hopefully to keep up the interest
