    Sorry to be so post race but I did not get back from Deauville until 4am Monday...

    Kingman got beat at Newmarket by a combination of the ground, being on the wrong side of the track and being in front too early.

    The small field and absence of any front-runners did make the Prix Jacques le Marois a penalty kick for John Gosden&#8217;s colt. It was a shame that Karakontie ducked the race as he could have at least added some extra interest tactically. I expect he will be going for the Prix du Moulin because Kingman will not be there.
