I'm going to say it now. When Steve Williams doesn't get voted in midfield, I'm going to scream and scream and scream until I'm sick.

    Just Williams.

Oh just imagine a centre midfield pairing of Williams and Le Tiss!

Honestly, look at you trying to strong arm Armstrong!

But yes, absolutely gets my vote for all sorts of reasons, not least #keeptwatbeardout

In fact, for those of the younger generation, I see that Twatbeard is only 2 votes ahead of Marsden. Please, please just vote Marsden, if only so that Twatbeard was beaten by someone wholehearted and average!

I've heard my dad talk about it. I never really listen to him anyway.

My vote goes to Armstrong, I never saw him play live but seen enough, heard enough and read enough to know he was quality. It took him less games to score more goals than Lallana and they were all in the top flight.

I can't remember Rod Wallace quite well enough to vote for him over Lallana but I also refuse to vote for Lallana. So... Ronnie Ekelund.

I voted for Lallana because he deserves it from the players I've watched.

David Armstrong. Jay Rodriguez almost got my vote, he is electrifying and it is surprising how under rated he is.

Only have seen a few from the list - Lallana, Marsden, Mane, Kachloul and Rodriguez. The main problem with polls like this is that I reckon we remember/overrate players more that we saw play when we were younger, Kachloul was awesome in my 9 year old eyes, so I have to vote for him.

    Present and correct sir!

Armstrong, just ahead of Holmes (who is VERY underated imo).

Speed isn't everything, close control and "tricks" do not always pay off. Armstrong combined high skill levels with power, great football brain and looked a bit like your dad.

Does anyone think it is wrong to vote for players you have never seen play? 4 of my choices I have never seen, Shilton, Golac, Paine and Armstrong.

The question is Who is Saints all time best ......?

Apart from Shilton who I used to pretend to be whenever I was in goal as a pre-teen I would not vote for the others had the question been about favourites or even best you've ever witnessed.

I think it would be good to respect the history a bit more even if you were never born when a particular player played.

Le Tissier has already been chosen but there are a lot of posters that although they know about the great man, might be inclined to vote for an alternative. Maybe it would be an idea to include Le Tiss after all to see who the voters pick.
