I'm sure we'll do our best for you greeny. But we do have quite a long list of injuries

I've put £2k on Barnsley so I've done my bit

Barnsley beat Sheff W 4-2 tonight. They are certainly the form team, along with Ipswich. Plymouth back on top after winning tonight

I see we are now 4/1 for that 6th spot, Peterborough having shortened to 11/4. They have Derby, Barnsley and Ipswich still to play

I’m not sure we will sneak in the playoffs this season but I’m still very happy with the season. Some highs and lows. A top end league one team who can bring on youngsters to sell suits me fine.

Play offs do bring in some money though. Personally, I don't think we will be in the play offs but, if Derby or Bolton, or both have a bad run and we have a good run, it can happen

Couldn't resist a game of prediction
These are our remaining 9 games with my predicted points assuming no bad luck stories

    upload_2023-3-22_22-37-21.png

To put that in perspective, Plymouth already have 80 points and Sheff W are only 2 off with a game in hand

So, lets look at the play off places

Ipswich also have 9 games left and would need 5 points to reach that 80. In fact, they have a chance of auto promotion
Barnsley are in a similar position to Ipswich, being 3 points behind them with a game in hand

So, as has been obvious for a while now, the fight is on for 5th and 6th places

I'm going to look at this as though my predictions above are correct. Of, course, we know they won't be but it would be optimistic to think we will do better

Derby. 9 games left and on 64 points. They need 16 points out of a possible 27 (ie they would need to drop 9 points). So where could they drop them?
    The most likely are:
    Peterborough away this Saturday
Ipswich at home the following Saturday
    Sheff W away final game

Bolton. 8 games left and on 64 points. Having drawn with Sheff W away last Friday, their most difficult games appear to be:
Plymouth at home and it looks likely they could win all the others which, if they lose to Plymouth would leave them on 85, so they could afford to lose another

Peterborough. They are level with us on points with just one goal separating us. So to finish behind us with 80 points they need to drop 8 points and their problem games look like being:
    Derby at home on Saturday
    Shrews away
    Ipswich at home
    Barnsley away final day

I would like to think it was between us 3 but Portsmouth look to have an easy run in apart from Derby and us on the last 2 games of the season

It could go right down to the final game for that 6th place, with Bolton having secured 5th by then

You may ask what was the point of doing that. Well there wasn't. I'm bonkers, so there

We are only playing Bolton at Wembley in the pizza cup Ron. It's not league.

As I said earlier I think 7th is probably the best we can hope for which is another great season for us we are certainly the best of the rest of League 1 with the size of club compared with the six who might finish above us. Guy will know more of the games that has cost us but the two that come mind are the two of the most recent Exeter at home & certainly Burton away especially when you look at Burton's Peterborough result when they let 5 in. You only have to look at the mess Poxford & Franchise have made of their seasons. To see what could have happened.

In the last 2 months Derby have only beaten Cheltenham Charlton Morecambe and Oxford so they are not in good form

Cheers greeny, missed that. That makes Bolton an even safer bet for 5th place

Yes, I think, if any are to drop out of the top 6, Derby are the most likely. Which would leave us, Peterborough and Portsmouth looking to take advantage

That's the last two away games Sheff Wed have lost & they are away again on Wednesday to Cheltenham & with Barnsley away at Exeter on Tuesday night they could be 3pts behind Sheff Wed with a game in hand by the time Sheff Wed play Wednesday night

And Sheff W nearly blew it again. 2-0 down with 15mins to go, drew 2-2

I wouldn't want to be in Sheff Wed position from looking cast iron certainty's to go up they now have Ipswich 4pts behind with a game in hand. Sheff Wed have only picked up twopts from a possible 12, just shows how far in front they were.

Let's hope Ipswich slip up soon (ie against us), along with any 2 from Bolton, Derby and Peterborough

And that we don't, of course
