Would you trust anybody who uses that phrase? A third and a half... also known as 50% Edit... just re-read it. I'll **** back off again.
Nah not really, you know what these surveys or studies are like, say one thing one day and the opposite the next. I've still got no idea if a glass of wine a day is good for you or bad.
Most studies are conducted in order to promote/sell a product anyway. Just stick to this guy's diet and you won't go far wrong.
This is just whey. Im taking a range of vits etc. Not gyming. Work is canny manual anyway. May get some creatine. Even contemplating the old running again.
Just asking as it looks like a gainer given the volume you're having. Do you do a lot of heavy lifting or sprinting at work (I don't mean the sprint to the pub once the shift is up), cos otherwise there's little use for creatine? The foam on the top is a good sign, I suspect the powder you're using may contain BCAA and a BCAA should never dissolve.
Over the last year or so I've got into running - heavily! Doing the Great North Run week after next!! I'm healthier and feel much better for running (most of the time! Tore my inner quad muscle playing tennis about 6 month ago and it took ages to get over) I've thought about supplements to aid me in my training but, as a diabetic, I'm never sure what I should or shouldn't take as I'm too lazy to look it up!! If I get into the Elvet Striders running club (when I get to the top of the waiting list!) then I'll probably get more advice and start taking stuff to help. Loving my foam roller mind!!
Creatine is probably not necessary then mate. Think about if you sprint, then you're absolutely ****ed and can't sprint any more, but then you are able to sprint again a minute later. What creatine has done is basically turbocharge your energy (ATP) levels back to a good amount so you can go again. Unless you're going to those levels of 'absolutely ****ed' it's probably not going to be of any notable use, so the cons of having to drink another 2L of water per day on top of what you already take are not worth it. Unless what you're lifting is very heavy and requires you to take a rest every time you pick it up?
You only need about 6 grammes of protein a day, or something like that, any more and as you say, you piss the rest out. So these people who treat protein shakes like a religion are just having very expensive pisses.
How much you need and how much you can absorb are different things though, if you're lifting weights you should be having at least 40g of protein afterwards and your body absorbs all of it.
Not sure what you mean, I assume you don't mean for a healthy diet. 6g of protein is 24 calories. That represents just under 1% of your RDA for calories for a man.
Makes sense mate. I was pretty sure 99% of them were a con, multi vitamins being the main offender as you can get your daily intake even by eating crap food like processed and chips, not my cup of teas though, Mum didn't shop at Iceland, she shopped at the butches, grocers and the weigh house for home cooked frugal food. The Creatine makes sense. I know lads who work out who'll only use creatine cause it's the only thing they say they need. Mind you, they eat a full family sized chicken with a meal. Popper old school colossal eaters. Is it a time thing why people who build up don't eat as much as they used to? They seem to liquidise everything. A supplement shake used to be no more than a glass of raw eggs with some creatine stirred in. Now there's all sorts of **** thrown in. Sounds like people are trying to short cut it.
