just run my own test on the upload function (paperclip) without moderator controls and it now appears ok?
Thanks brb. Can you (in non mod mode) view my attachments in the above post? I uploaded those from the quick reply. Any idea why that didn't work for our posters, does it work now? Is it/was it a problem across the site?

That picture wasn't uploaded from your computer was it Reebs. I think you downloaded it from the internet, in which case you need to uncheck the box "Retrieve remote file and reference locally". Also you need to right click on the image and select "Copy Image URL". If that option doesn't show select open image in new tab/window and copy the URL from there. please log in to view this image
that picture is in "my pictures" on my laptop. It came from the internet originally though ....... EDIT: this photo from my camera Hmmmmm
